Great to be introduced to this community! I've often thought of building some kind of light weight trailer to replace my aging tent trailer. I've seen teardrops around, but didn't know anything about them, and didn't realize there is such a vibrant community and knowledge base around them.

My vehicle is a Japanese domestic mistubishi 4x4 van - a Delica. It is essentially a Mistubishi Montero mechanically. It has a 2.5 litre old school turbo diesel - so it is not particularly powerfull - thus the need for a lightweight trailer. I design and build modern wooden furniture for a living - I built the console below. All I need now is a lot more time. . . .

Hi Glenn,

Welcome to the forum. It looks like you'll fit right in...

You've got the skills, the know how and what not to pull it all together...

So what'll it be?

A teardrop? A weekender? A winter warrior? A standie? So many trailers... so little time...

How about this Winter Warrior for example?

Actually, I would like to make something ultra-light. The Pico-Light is intriguing, but I haven't mapped out how small it really is. Our Delica seats fold down flat and can fit a queen sized air mattress - but there are four of us. So, we want room for two more, plus a little extra cargo space. I want to keep it as simple as possible - with no galley I think. I've got some time to think this all over though, I have a feeling it's going to be a long, a very long planning stage.

Hello from your southern neighbor. What is the weight limit for your tow vehicle? I like the looks of it but I don't think that I could ever learn to shift with my left hand.

Wow. I really wish they had vans that cool looking down here. I'd buy one in a heartbeat! I love the windows on the roof in the back! That's one awesome ride

howdy from Sechelt BC neighbour! I'm a cabinetmaker too. if you've been in the trade for a while there's a good chance we've crossed paths a few times already or worked in the same shops at one time or anpther. I've been working in the lower mainland for the past 25 years. we should get together for a coffee sometime. I come to town on the ferry quite often.
