Canvas Tarp Suppliers

I was thinking of a retro vibe with two tone matching my car and an off white, unless I can get the teal canvas and the glue doesn't discolor it.



If I'm going to paint it, I'll just get plain and put a similar color over it.

I havent tried it but I was wondering if you used a colored canvas and painted over it with untinted paint base. i know that untinted paint was used on one of Woodbutchers builds instead of I believe varnish or epoxy.

Might be good to test that , as the color might fade in the Sunlight… There are UV coatings you can use ...

Thought I would post this up.

My last purchase of a 12x9 canvas drop cloth at Harbor Freight did not have a seam through the middle. Not sure if it is a fluke of not, but if this is the new standard for HF canvas then it could be a good thing. Cost was the same and quality seemed the same.

FWIW, I bought two 12x9 canvas tarps from HF at separate times during the last 6 months. Neither had seams.

That is great! That means now you should be able to do 11'x8' spans.

Guys, we just found a huge source of really Heavy Duty Burlap Coffee bean bags… So Heavy and Tough a fabric we use them to make Archery targets ( stuffed to the max with recycled plastic bags ) … The local coffee company gives them away for free…

Just got back from harbor freight and mine doesn’t have seams either and for you guys with harbor freights til the end of the month

Apparently they change suppliers I bought some in different packaging.

Thank you again! I went to a different HF store today and grabbed the seamless canvas! The salesperson told me that all stores carry both types and that my local store must have sold out.

The covering material Must be porous to allow the solvent in the glue (water) to evaporate/dry ... As long as the material "breathes" , no matter its composition , it will attach to the foam with a T2 type adhesive ... Canvas, fiberglass, Kevlar , Carbon fiber... all will work ... Plastic , metal, pasta, will Not work ...unless a more suitable adhesive is used...

Hey GPW - I’m just brand new in here. Been trying to learn PMF.
Not ready for a camper yet - but just a few projects to get the feel for it.

So - question re: fabric. I wondered if Fiberglass will work well ( or Kevlar) with Titebond II.

I have a Composites guy nearby - and I’m sure he would slice me off a few yards at his cost.

So I have a smaller project to start with - Tonneau cover for pickup. PMF over XPS
(or, I do have some EPS on hand, but not sure if that will work out ok ??)
So perhaps I just need 80 Sq. Ft ( 40 top, 40 bottom.)

My goal is Light / Thin / Strong.
So I don’t mind spending a few extra bucks on, say, glass vs canvas… if it would be lighter weight.

But I would love to confirm that it will glue up nicely.
Then I would paint; or try MonstaLiner or equiv, as per the big write-up by Tony L (?)

Just looking for direction here.
