Purchased some canvas for the sides of the camper today and got to thinking about this post, is that 6 gallons meaning 3 gallons mixed 50/50 to make 6 gal or 6 gal mixed 50/50 to make 12 gallons?

P.S. canvas cooler is all covered and ready for paint I got it all covered and the drain plug in just before knee surgery which slowed me a bit, I'll post some pics tomorrow I'm pretty happy with it and can't wait to test it out at the may gathering just need to come up with the paint theme.

Mine fits in the large range being 6 1/2'x11 1/2' so I figured I'd better start collecting some glue now.
KC so how many gallons of glue did you use on the foam stream, unmixed gallons?
UMMV ???

UMMV = Your Mileage May Vary spelled wrong. :?

Hope I didn't confuse you. I'm building The Poet Creek Express, am on my second gallon of glue and have not started the canvas process yet. But I have followed GPW and his Foamstream. It has a lot of surface area.

 Thanks everyone, so I'll probably plan about 5 gal to start as it's not as tall as the foam stream and all I have to do is canvas the rest is done.

Just as an idea , we used 30 yards of 60” canvas... pretty much all of it ... That’s roughly 64.800 sq. in. of canvas... :o TB2 not only used to glue the foam blocks , and secure most of the covering , but to attach the inside chipboard skin too .. :frightened: Lots of Glue !!!

Seriously I used 25 yards of canvas and and everything on mine is glued with it, You have seen mine Scott and and so far I have used 3 gallons and a a little. I figure I will use the rest of the open gallon for the inside. I may even get into the forth gallon ...........

Scott a fold over looks better than a seam although with a little finesse you could put the seams just on top on each side and that would be some what symmetrical. Duck had some good prices the last time I looked. Drop clothes usually have a seam every 3 ft 11 inches or about 5 ft. did you know that presently the HF has a sale on duck drop cloths 4x12 for $7.49 and 9 x 12 for $15.29 I'm not sure where the seams are. You just have to work with it and the numbers to see what you can come up with.

I picked up some white duck at Joanne Farbics last night for 6.99 and had a 20% off coupon on that, unfortunatlly they only had the one piece 4 yards long so I only got enough for one side I'll have to go back for the other side. With the top being over 6' wide I'm still up in the air about how I'm gonna cover it and how I'm gonna reach the center of a 6'x 11' camper.
Inside will be all hard wood paneling so I won't need glue inside.
Come on spring they're saying sub zero's in the morning again I'm over it.

OK not sure what happened my pics are different sizes and I resized them all before uploading them.
Here's what I have so far

Canvas bottom

Used a rubber gasket over my hinge under the gasket to see how it would work on the galley hatch, the rubber gasket was to thick to make the corner on the cooler but I think it'll work fine on the galley as there's no edge.

Canvas on the end, if I'd have thought ahead I'd have put the handle on last so I only had to cut 2 little holes :duh:

Wow!!! that looks good. I like the drain plug, like mine or mine is like yours. I havent put mine together yet. one day a month or so before Christmas I was talking with a friend about all the things I wanted to get for my TD and I mentioned oven, cooler, table and electric parts and solar panel and I still need a few other things. Well he was so sweet and got me a cooler so, I didn't want to start work on mine till after he gets to come and repair my computer. What I want is a bear proof one. It doesn't mean I will get it but that is what I want.

Now about how to put the canvas on top . what I did : I spread it out over the top and positioned it I used craft pins and pined it about 6 times on each side along at the front to the middle of the top, then I rolled it up from the back going towards the front. I then spread about 8 inches of glue across the top and then un rolled the canvas about 6 to 10 inches . I kept doing it then i went to the front sides where I put the pins removed them and rolled up the canvas and did the exact same thing. putting glue on about 8 to 10 inches and rolling the canvas down over it. I had no help I did it by myself so I know you can do it. Craft pins work really well with foam. They are about 2 and 1/2 inches long some you can get 3 inches and they have a bent top that makes it look like a T. I hope that makes sense.
