Favorite CT builds, past and present?

Postby dustboy » Wed Mar 27, 2013 7:16 pm

I've been scrolling down the threads of CT builds for months, I still don't feel like I've seen half of the great ideas you clever folks have had.

Which ones have you bookmarked? What are the most clever solutions and cool conversions you've seen?

I'll start:

Jeff's Cargo conversion has been a huge inspiration to my build:

Howdy All;

When I first found this forum I'd thought I'd stumbled onto the "Motherload"
I haven't been proven wrong yet, and don't expect to anytime soon.
There were 3 builds that hit my sweet spot.
Not necessarily in this order;
Gonefishin's
gallery/album.php?album_id=622
an
kstephenson's
gallery/album.php?album_id=477
and last but, deffinatly not least;
Nitroxjunkie71's
gallery/album.php?album_id=1194

By shining my wee bity spotlight on these 3 I in no way wish to infer that others
were or aren't a part of my thought processes... I fully intend to pick clean the
bones of any and all offerings that are presented on this forum.
Those 3 are the ones that caught my eye and gave me the ah-ha moment that
we all feel when we see something that is RIGHT!

As ya'll can take away from my examples, I prefer to "Keep it Simple"

I'm done now ...........................

I can't start picking and choosing. I have gone through about 2/3 or the CT pages and a bunch of the TD pages. I couldn't begin to pick one or two out of them. I have bookmarked several for specific things, like putting in windows etc. I have saved pictures from almost all of them. Each has parts and pieces that I like and can use. I probably won't use all of the ideas and pictures I have set aside, but I couldn't just point to one or two as the best and put the rest aside either.

What each of us likes is going to be different for our separate needs. My advice is to take the time and go through as many of the builds as you can, even if it is just looking at the pictures. The builds that I have liked are because they are close to what I need.

What I want probably won't work for most of you. I will be almost 100% boondocking with no electricity. The roads in our mountains are gravel, with lots of dust and potholes. We have motorcycles, atv, pontoons, float tubes and many other toys that we will be carrying at different times.... not all at once. I need my CT to be very versatile, rugged, and bare bones, yet something that I can take at a moments notice and camp for several weeks at a time even in the cooler spring and fall.
