O2 was for cutting, AC arc welder for welds. I am lucky enough to have an Uncle who welded on the shipyard. I can run a bead, but it's not pretty! This will definitely be overbuilt material wise, but I already had the trailer with a title.

Oh, I was confused. I thought you said you needed O2 to weld. You must have some more cutting to do.

As I am getting closer to having a trailer frame I am starting to think about the build. I am going with 3/4" solid plywood walls, 3/4" floor. I see a lot of people putting in a sub floor under the plywood. Is there a reason to not just bolt the 3/4" plywood frame right to the trailer frame?

From what I have read, unless you intend to insulate your floor (...and there are plenty of good reasons to do that) there usually is no need to build a subfloor.

If your trailer width and floor width are reasonably close (say within a foot... 6 inches on a side), and you do not have to build up over the fenders in order to create a flat floor, then the extra wood is not necessary.

This, of course, is just the opinion that I have developed from reading the numerous posts on this subject. My TD is being built completely differently.

You may want to search and or read more about this topic before you make your final decision.

My plan is to bolt the floor directly to the frame and insulate between the frame members. I feel that the floor framing that most people seem to do is a little redundant.

Finished getting my trailer frame welded up and a coat of primer today. My goal is to get the floor built by the end of the weekend.

Built the sub floor today and worked in the design a bit. Hadn't planned on doing a sub floor but didn't take into consideration for the tongue reinforcements so decided that in order to get the floor drop I wanted in the entrance I needed the extra clearance. Making sawdust makes me HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! I also realized that my current sidewall design won't hide my frame so back to the (sketchup) drawing board for some revisions.

I ran into a similar; issue when I was building our first camper. Ours is 10 ft long and 4 ft tall. I used 5/8 ply for the main structure and used the scrap to fur out the inside. I also used a 6 inch wide piece to joint the pieces together. I used construction adhesive and screws to hold it all together. I then installed 1/2 inch foam in between the during strips before I installed the 1/4 inch birch ply. I was able to hide all of the wires in the walls as well. Walls are strong and the camper stays realty warm in the cold. I will recommend using pt ply for the floor.
