Ok I'm back and this time I'm serious! The last chassis fell through for various reasons but as of today I'm the proud owner of an alko caravan chassis. My bother is a welder and lives in Australia but is home at the minute so I took the opportunity to try get him to do some work!! Plan is a very standard benroy but it'll be about 5ft plus wide. I think I'm going to stick to 8 foot long as it being so small is one of the things that attracted me to it in the first place.

This photo attached below is what I hope to achieve, I have a new 16x10 ft shed arriving on Friday which I'm hoping I can do a lot of the work in but maybe the assembly outside.

Wooot!

you're in Bizzzznass now. When you get ready to start the work. Make a new Thread in the build Journal area. The build logs get lost and buried in the Newbie are so fast.

Hi I'm in kildare I had the same experience trying to get a chassis and had crazy quotes to get one made. This chassis cost me €125 and the guy has more if you're interested I'll give you his number. Also there is a guy on boards.ie and on this website that has built a teardrop on a similar chassis. I got in contact with him and went out to take look, might be worth while.

€125 is a good price. but that size would be to wide for me. I'd prefer the roof to be in one piece and 5x10 sheets of ply are not easy to get around here so hoping for a max 4ft wide trailer. Plus it's for the girlfriend and she's never towed anything before. I know where there a few scrapped caravans that i could get the chassis's off but they are in the middle of west meath. Being keeping an eye on donedeal and adverts.ie for nearly a month now and anything cheap seems to be only on for minutes before it's sold. I'm heading down to Limerick this sun for a classic car show so going to travel the backroads on the way home and see what i can find lying around all those farms

Yeah I originally wanted To go with a 4x8 but after lots of research etc it just seemed like too much trouble plus on reflection I think when insulated the interior would be very small for 2 adults. This chassis is 5 and a half feet between the wheels which will take a double mattress when finished. I'm considering using hardboard for the roof and possibly lap joining 2 sheets of marine ply for floor. Walls will remain 8x4 as I want it as small as possible. How much is the foam ?

I have a Vw Camper van already so the trailer will be like an extension when on the back. The van is only good for 2 but now i need room for 3. I would love to go 5ft wide but her car is a micra and will be used to tow it aswell. I'll PM you about the foam.
