Camping season is upon us. I'm a newbie so I'd like suggestions for 2 night spots in So Cal. Thanks.

My go to place for camping has been Seven Oaks Resort just past Angeles Oaks off Hwy. 38 (about 26 miles from Redlands/10frwy). Right at paved road, on Santa Ana river (more like stream) for good trout fishing. Good place for taking the misses if she's new to camping. Been going there for 20 years, never any issues. Mostly tent campers with the occasional RV. A tiny trailer is perfect at this place. Have a phone number if needed.

When we lived in So Cal, our favorite spot to go camping was Refugio State Beach north of Santa Barbara. Great waterfront campground. Lots of great family memories. The train that goes by the campground in the middle of the night catches you by surprise the first couple of times but after that it's pretty easy to roll over and go back to sleep. There is also El Capitan State Beach in the same area but it seemed to be more up and down and more crowded.

We like Mt. Pinos, just over the Kern County line. It's generally quiet. There is a store at Pine Mountain Club. It's first come, first served, so we try to get there on a Thursday or Friday morning.

Thanks for the suggestions. They all look nice. I might go to the Santa Barbara one since I'm going up there for a graduation at UCSB. Mt. Pinos sounds good too.
