Well ignored by Senators and state representatives as a fruit cake HUD completely ignored me complaint to date so why not go just a few notches higher. The united Nations.....................

Universal Declaration on Human Rights Article 25.1
"Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services."

I like so many others am losing my home of 24 years. The loss of my wife in January of 2012 left me financially underwater. I have clawed and clawed to remain afloat long enough to get an occasional gasp of air. I finally chose to give up the house payments (and the home) and divert the cash to the building of a tiny house. As a single person the 160+ square foot home has all I need.I am linking this e mail to a complete 18 month week by week update of my build. On or about page 30 you will start to see that I am now near completion and am being denied my housing rights by building codes and zoning rules. I find this in direct conflict with the universal declaration of human rights statute 25.1.It is ,as you will see on the build, well thought out and appointed to be safe, sanitary, and well ventilated and insulated. It is much greener than my 1900 sq ft home built in the late 40's with little thought to energy conservation. By typing in tiny house as a search you will see many sites supporting this newer simplified life style. I am looking for some type of support to allow me to place my tiny home where I can afford to and wish to. I have leased a 3000 square foot shop and the landlord has no problem with the tiny house in this rural setting but insists I must have the blessing of the local county board. The war started and I am looking for larger caliber ammunition to enter in the fight. I can not afford local legal reputation to fight for rights the United Nations and the U,S.Federal government has already afforded me. Any help or advice you can offer would be most welcome. Here is the link to my efforts to date with the info on the zoning war near page 30 something

Bob, I can't remember if you did this or not; so, I'll ask. Have you tried filing for a building code variance? That may be what you need to do. Also, you may do well by getting help from a civil engineer, if you can find a good one who will take up your cause.

It's a good thought slow, but I really don't see it as the governments right to tell me where I can and can't lay down my head at night. It is nothing you can run from for long. It takes people to stand up and shake a fist and refuse to graze with the rest of the sheep that just go along and get along. There are counties here in Indiana that have no problem with tiny houses. Unfortunately they are 50 + miles from my work and this little corner of my world. I will wear them down and am having fun being a thorn in their side.

Just a question Bob. Since local laws do not recognize your tiny house, have you had any issues insuring your home?

Good question Steve, I went into my gal pal insurance agent and insured the home built teardrop for $2500.00 without anyone batting an eye. I need to get off my butt and get the caboose covered too. Right now, I am just swinging in the breeze. I will at the same time get renters insurance on the storage building/shop for contents. I have procrastinated as I felt they might want an address as to where the home on wheel is located. Location often enteres into the risk factor for fire coverage ,theft issues, and other such factors.

Well as long as you are having fun I wish you the best of luck wearing them down before they wear you down.

The Monday update has nothing to do with the caboose.......

Was way too busy... Left work early Friday and my helpers Jimmy and carey showed up and we loaded a lot of the good junk from the outbuildings onto my 8 x 20 flatbed trailer. (Think of that trailer as 5 healthy pickup loads)plus we loaded the pickup too. . These items were welders, generators, compressors, giant fans, wall cabinets, base cabinets, lumber, work benches, my cast iron bath tub, and on and on and on.

We made two loads, one Friday and one Saturday. I now have 2 out buildings empty of the bigger pieces. The carriage house garage is yet to go and will be a 3rd healtyh load of big pieces. Then I start sorting the little treasures as to electrical, plumbing, painting , and hand tools sorted into 3 or 4 catagories.

By Sunday I was so stiff and sore I called in dead, (well not really) but I did take the day off and went junkin, see my other posts for my yard sale scores

Late Sunday evening my neighbor Dan came over and we loaded one pickup load of big ugly firewood out of my wood pile onto his truck. Probably one more load of firewood to go

Back at work today resting up !

Got all the ends tucked in ! The bare plywood will be the kabota orange also and will have a unit # stenciled on it in white.

Anyone got any ideas for a unit number " BR 549 " " CU 812 " ect.

The rear is still undetermined either orange or perhaps automotive black undercoating. I had to do this end this way as I ran out of rubber roof and barely had enough to cover
