I got just over 1/2 of my inner roof on and then slept over night in it. No doors, no outer roof no galley a way to thin sleeping pad. Ouch

No, I haven't slept in it yet. I'll be putting down the linoleum today and hopefully start building the bed frame. Time to look through the forum and see if there are any bed frame ideas before heading out this morning.

Time for another update. After using my parents place to build the trailer, I finally had to move it out and bring it to my house now that they're home. It was great having all that working room. This the first time I had the trailer on the road and it pulled really well. I was a little worried since I still don't have the roof on but I braced it well and it handled the road just fine.


After hauling the trailer back to my house, I now had to make sure it fit in the garage. Looks like it will be a good fit even when the roof is on. I purchased a low profile vent so I don't think there will be an issue once it's complete.

Of course, once I have the tailer home, my daughter had to check it out. Also a lot of clean up in the back bay of the garage

Now that the garage is clean, I'm able to park the trailer and continue to work on it. Since it's back at my house I'm able to make a lot of progress in the evening. I'll have to post more pictures of the progress in a future post.

A bit late on the reply but one way to reduce load on wiring is using LED lights rather than incandescent. Looking good.

Time for another update. Since my last post I’ve installed the bed which lifts up to provide some storage under it and I’ll install all my wiring there as well.

I’ve also built and installed my cabinets above the bed to hold clothes and installed a light below the cabinet.

Here’s a picture of my counter with a shelf in the middle to hold cooking utensils.

I’ve also built my roof which I don’t have a picture of but here are some pictures of the folding portion of the roof. I’m currently putting the skins on them.

I sure can’t wait to get out and camp in it. It’s funny when I tell people I’m building a trailer. They think I’m just building a square box to put a cot in. Then they see what I’m actually building and are shocked. It’s a good feeling.

Time for another update. I've been wiring lights, insulating the walls and ceiling and putting the outside walls in place. I've come to find out that I really don't like sanding. Will it ever end??? I don't even want to think about the amount of sanding that's in store for me after epoxying it. I was really hoping to have this completed prior to hunting season but now I don't think it will be. August is a pretty full month that won't leave much time to work on it. Here's some pictures of the progress




I just bought an ATV and got to thinking about how I would haul it around. Has anyone seen those tent trailers that have a platform on the front that allows an ATV to be placed on it? I was wondering if I could lengthen the tongue and build a platform to place it on. Anyone ever thought about doing something like that?

i would look at Sumo set up he put a pad there for some toys. I am not sure about the strength of a HF to do that

I had the neighbors come over with the encouragement of Mr. Coors and Bud Wieser and gave them a tour. they said it was the coolest things they had seen built in a garage.

It’s time for another update. After looking at the moldings at Home Depot, seeing the price per foot combined with how many feet I’d need, I decided to make my own. It’s just a simple ¼ round over. I used 1x2’s, ripped them lengthwise, then set up a couple routers: one with a round over bit and one with a chamfer bit to take out the back side material. The 1x2’s cost a buck; I can get 16 feet for a dollar as opposed to $1 a linear foot if I bought it pre-made. I still have to stain and urethane it but I think it will look nice once it’s done.
