Randy, it’s possible ... but then I’d have to cut Two curbstones ...

PK, I do that too ... Dreams can become things ... ;)

More Rain today .... already the day starts warm at 80F right now ... if things clear up for a little while , we can test fit the nose cage ...Maybe !!!

That looks good. A simple block (maybe an inverted trapezoid) between the floor and the tongue should be sufficient.

Hey GPW,

I've been checking in once in a while to see your progress. That trailer will be real cool! Nice work.

Er... it was a long night at band practice last night ... ...But I’m awake , swilling coffee and trying to figure out what I can do in between the almost daily rain storms ...which is pretty usual this time of year ...

Have to get the nose floor sorted so we can attach the cage , kerf the foam (sideways this time) and get that part done ... Luckily I found a box of those left over Harbor Freight trailer clips , the ones that go on the sides to accept 2X4s like a stake bed... There’s my front attachment ... just have to drill a couple holes and attach it to the frame and floor ... I’ll take more pics as it proceeds ... Although I have a tendency to “over-build” in these areas, the floor is really Strong already as I’ve been climbing all over it all along (225#) ;) ...and that’s on the outer parts that will be trimmed away, so a little “float" won’t hurt a thing ... still very strong !!!

More coffee !!! :goodnight:

Glen, that looks nice. I love the symmetry and neatness of the CNC parts. Trying to make that curve manually would have been a painful and slow process. I love it.

Those CNC ribs were a Blessing !!! Otherwise I’d still be cutting , and it certainly wouldn’t look as neat ... ;)

Vinnie called me this morning wanting to make some extra ribs for the top , but told him the top would just a big foam Igloo ... quarter sphere... hollowed out on the inside ... yet to come ... And it looks like I need to get some MORE foam ... :o Hope my man in Lafitte still has some ... Was also thinking "while I was there “, might as well pick up enough foam for a boat too..

Glued together two pieces of scrap for the nose floor .. had to do some custom fitting to get the T&G to cooperate ... than I added the 3/4” spacer which will make it fit exact to the floor level .. Glue drying now ... Time for Lunch and perhaps a little siesta during the hottest part of the day ... :fan:

Not enough!!!! Build MORE - FASTER!!!!!!!!
I've read through the whole thread today, well maybe not every word, but definitely every picture. LOL

I'd really like to do something like this "rib build", though more along the lines of a Bowlus Road Chief, http://www.bowlusroadchief.com/. I was fortunate enough to see one of the half dozen surviving originals at a vintage camper gathering on WA's Long Beach peninsula several years ago. I want the light weight AND the aerodynamics. The CNC puzzle jointed arches are great. But since I don't have a CNC, or the skills and experience, I'll just hafta make my ribs of laminated 1/4" ply with a master template and flush trim router bit .

Looking forward to more progress, maybe even more than you... ;)

I totally agree with Steve on letting Vinnie do some top ribs for you.
Half-ribs mounted/fanned vertically could add some flange-style extra
strength. A couple-three full ribs fanned up horizontally would work
too. Besides giving a positive strength redundancy up front, the ribs'd also
give you some easy continuous hardpoints in that area for however
you may decide to outfit that area. I'd think about adding a few more
uprights too on the curved front's bottom section, for the same reason -
or, an intermediate rib between the two existing semi-circles, instead of
additional uprights. Locate it either centered between them or at the
height needed to support the front of the couch/bed/storage platform
up there - it'd just make it easier to build them in.

Have you decided on how you'll support the underneath of the leading
edge of the OSB along the curved front ? Maybe another half-circle
under it ? I doubt it'd stay flat over time otherwise. [ Okay, I admit I'm
biased against OSB. Just remember that old joke about "Just because
you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you..." - based on
experience with the special 'waterproof' OSB based floor in our Avion
that still rotted and warped.] Your own treatment and the "sock" should
help with that too, as well.

Just a couple considerations for you to look at...

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo
