This was the first idea that I had at installing the ac, well that didn't work out so well I could only get it to run for 7 mins and it would kick out for 20 mins so I knew that that wasn't going to work so i took the cover off the front to give it more air flow, then it would run for 12 mins and shut off for 20 mins. So it was still a no go. So I left it alone for a few days and thought about it.... I had already added 2 -4 1/2" computer fans to draw air from unit and push it out the vent pipe. Well after a few days as 12 pack of beer and a 1/5th of captain Morgan's it came to me.

I need more air flow over the hole coil :hammerhead: so this is what happened I made a cut out the same size as the coil, moved the unit all the way back to the wall and gave it another try.well so far it's run for an hour and the air coming out from the coil is cool! So I hope one a build a duct to connect to the vent pipe all will remain the same. If not I'm going to give 1 more try and add a inline blower. The cabin air is cold so that's what I'm using for the air supply to run through the back of the unit to keep it cool.so if all goes well ill add a vented grill on the inside and some trim and call it done! Well Tuesday I'm off to Texas and won't be back til Friday so next week end ill know more and post another update. Until next time

Oh we've got lots of trees and shrubs and briars and plenty of other stuff to scratch up the sides of our junk. Don't you worry! I love wheeling in the woods and the Jeep has plenty of that. It will fit down most trails that are only run by quads. Screeeeetch. It's the dead branches that don't flex anymore that will get you. The green stuff is pretty soft... lots of water here.

I just didn't envision that there was much vegetation out there in Death Valley (although I should know better).

Probably a popular misconception. :?

I see that you are having the same problem that I struggled with for a while, though I used a right-angle exhaust duct that was holding in the heat, and causing the thermal shutdown. I ended up adding an inline blower to extract the exhaust heat faster, drilled some holes in my restrictive vent outlet (also to shed heat faster), and lastly I added a 120mm case fan to blow ambient air over the chassis coils.
