Awning for Boler

Postby loaderman » Fri Jun 28, 2013 12:33 am

I own a boler camper. The track for the awning is just above the door, about 6'4" off the ground. Being 5'1" tall I like my outside poles at least at 6' so this gives no slope to the awning, ok for shade but when it rains I have to lower the poles then I do not fit under and can't lower them much because the awning hits the top of the door then.

Looking for a way of having the awning go over the top of the boler. But I don't want to drill any holes in the top of it. Maybe a post front and back off the bumper in the rear and front frame and then a rod that would collapse for storage and expand when put up. Or something else?

Would also like to go about 4-6' behind the boler and then have an awning also behind, kind of an L-shape. Tis area behind would be closed in for a shower and port-a-potti.

As for the rain problem. I have a collapsible pole with a tennis ball on the end and when it rains, I place it approximately in the center and raze it so the awning slops all around without losing the original height. As for the rest of your plans, I would sketch up what you want and then contact Marti at Marti's Awnings (http://martisawnings.com/). She's good and I'm going to have her make me an awning with sides for my Burro.

I knew there was a reason we keep you around Gage! :R The tennis ball idea sounds fantastic.

Here's another source for your custom awning. http://vintageawning.blogspot.com/ She did an awesome job on my awning and in a real short period of time. Unfortunately, Marti was dealing with some family health issues when i needed to order mine (I hope all is well) and I found Kristi's site by using google. Great awning, quick service, reasonably priced and very well made. She shipped it from the south somewhere to the mountain west via priority mail for just $22. I was fearing much more. I'm very pleased :D :) :D :)

I just heard that Marti is back to work. But since we couldn't contact her a few weeks ago we ordered and have received an awning from Kristi

Decided to go simple.
Post up from front and rear bumper, braced back to other side of bumper/hitch, rope in awning edge that attaches to posts.

3 posts on outer edge with ropes to ground.
