Wow! What an awesome site !

So I've been reading for several weeks now, and following several builds while gathering "parts" and info.

THANK YOU Mike and Mitchell !! (more on that later )

I figured I might as well start a "build" thread ...I'll start at the top.

I have some damage to repair to the foam, which I was just going to fix with sprayfoam until I saw ghcoe using drywall corners on his #1 build. Thanks George !
So I went looking and found two types of plastic archway drywall corners, one bullnose (rounded) and one right angle. These are designed to go around curves. Perfect, they will add protection to the corners and give nice clean edges to the curves.

So , I did a little experiment to see if it might work... pictures should be attached.(if I did it right). I used Gripper, but might try TB2 as GPW has had better results on his Foamstream canvassing. Thanks GPW !

I'm planning on using the right angle along the entire bottom of the tear drop, including the wheelwells, and the bullnose along the side edges.

I'll fill in the top damage with foam and put the bullnose over top of that. Everything will get covered with canvas.

It's a nice tight bond, the holes in the plastic allow the gripper to come though to the canvas.

So it sounds like you are fairly well along in your build. Can you give us an overview of what you are building (size, profile style, trailer type, etc.) and what type of camping you plan on using it for?

More pics are always welcome, too. Perhaps something of an overview shot?

Welcome, and what KC said, remember we are still new to the the foamie realm few years and need things put in plain simple stuff with lots of pictures, experiments and explaining. We are still experimenting and reporting back on what we find. Like I own few clamps so I find working with some glues not great and with the humidity so high here in GA right now, some wont dry probably for weeks. so what works for some doesn't necessarily work for others. I am not sure by your pictures where you are on your build can you please explain. you have me wondering. Or did I miss your build thread on another thread? I have been working so much lately, and I have not read and my 62 CRS keeps cropping up.

That will be awesome!!! Welcome to the world of Foamies.... I wish I had thought of dry wall corners when I was building mine. I rounded all of my corners because I used fiberglass on my build and fiberglass doesn't go around corners well. If I had thought of it I would have squared off my corners. We love Keep us up to date!

Yep, you guessed it ! That didn't take long ...
I was wondering how long before somebody recognized it !


Back to the build, I ordered some new windows that fit great. I'm going to put some foam corners in to canvas over before I install them.

AWESOME!!! I'm glad someone is gonna take the ball and run with it. It was our great leader Mike who convinced me it was worth building a foamy. I am so thrilled someone is gonna finish it. Looking forward to watching this one to completion...

What a great start to a tear drop !


I tried using TB2 yesterday to install more of the drywall corners ... well, that didn't work at all !
It didn't bond to the plastic, and wouldn't stay in place on the foam. It keep running to the bottom, and dripping off.
So I'm going to stick with the Gripper to do the corners. Here's a close up of the Gripper.

If the gripper is working for you that's great.

If you were to try the TB again you might scuff the plastic trim with some sand paper first (give it some "tooth") and use bamboo skewers poked thru the little holes in the trim to hold it in place until the glue sets up. Proven method in Foamies.
