Hey GPW. Looks great so far. When I used Gripper, I put it on the foam thickly enough so that it would percolate through the canvas to the front and I would brush it in and finish priming with the Gripper. I guess that's pretty much like coating both sides. You're right about it sticking to the hands. I had to scrub till it hurt to get it off

I spoke too soon! Started raining where I work about 10:00 pm. I rode my Kawasaki home in the rain at midnight. No sign that it rained at my house, though. Funny how rain is in Arizona. I've seen it pour across the street, and we never got a drop!
God Bless

Bill , now I’m thinking about a hole in the rear wall up high ... old school TD type vent .. Still pondering this ..

Cliff, at least it rains sometimes ... Totally opposite of here where it rains ALL the time in the summer ... mostly .. Even the wife remarked I should have picked a better time of the year to build ...

Mel , I think that’s the best way to use the Gripper ... Everything is holding now ... even on my hands ... and for some reason , Gripper sticks to fingernails even better than it sticks skin .. :frightened:

Getting light now , the weather forecast  doesn’t indicate possible rain till this afternoon (dice roll) ... So , right now we’re going out to Gripper the top piece, and all the canvas folded under the floor , just to isolate the canvas from the Black nasty Stuff yet to be applied . That should finish the exterior priming ... 8) Now I have to attach the door , door trim and weather seals ... The object is to get it “dried in” so we don’t have to use the cumbersome tarp anymore .... that and the tarp is starting to pick up dirt, foam bits , frogs , etc, which eventually ends up on the trailer ... :o

I was wondering ... should we put the windows in Before painting the outside or after... :NC

You could mount them temporary to fill the holes and give you light inside. ?
But I wouldn't install them permanent until you paint it.
BTW, It's lookin' really good !

As far as those seams go, I would not worry about them at all! As long as they are glued down ( I will take your word on the gripper so far), they will not be coming up without some good prying. At least that is how mine are.

After ... OK !!! These windows are going to require some thinking as the trim rings are only 2.25” deep and the foam wall is 3.5” deep  ... Maybe I just need some longer screws and paint the open space between them black so as to be less noticeable ... Hmmm? That and I have to finish the inside wall covering (chipboard) in that section where the trim ring goes , before I can install it ... Somewhat confusing eh ... :?

Got the top primed  ... took longer to get the Gripper off my hands ... :o

Eagle , no worries , still a couple thick layers of really Good House paint to go .. left over from just painting the house and studio ...THRIFTY !! :D
Actually we’ve heard No stories of lifting ... Seems if that was a problem , somebody would have said something by now eh ?

Good ole Newton clamp. Old tech but still very viable.

On the trim rings for the windows. I had the same problem with my doors from Frank and you've got the exact right idea. The self taping screws that come with it literally Suck the big one. Go to Lowes and get the piercing sheet metal screws with 1/4" hex head and use them instead. Your body will thank you immensely. Probably along the lines of 2 1/2"but you can get a piece of your foam and place it against the frame and ring and figure the length needed. I was nearly herniating myself to drive the original self tapping with another person helping. The piercing work great and are massively easier to drive.

If those windows mount with self tapping screws biting into a groove in the frame extrusion like a boat window, try some AluCut to lube the screws. It's a wax rather than a cutting fluid so it won't just get squeezed on as you turn the screw in. With SS screws into aluminum, you have to be careful lest you hear that little "tink" as the head twists off....especially true if you're going with a longer screw. We use Robertson screws rather than Phillips (which suck in general...) so I doubt you'd get enough torque on a Phillips head to snap it before you mangled the recess.

If your wall is deeper than the trim ring, you'll have a section of wall showing where the frame and trim ring don't meet. You can fill that by cutting a strip of aluminum roll flashing or wrapping wood veneer around the inside edge of the opening before putting the windows in.
That way, it looks like you meant to do that...

With mine on hold at the moment, seeing your great progress is getting me my daily 'fix'.
