Ha! My cousin was camping with us this weekend with a similar trailer. They were sleeping in the bed of their truck and I told them the same thing! Throw a roof on it and your set!

Haha...but too late it was a trash trailer and the walls and floor are already gone!

There she is all stripped down of wood. Much lighter now! Next question is what is the best way to remove the rails cleanly? Cut grind or torch?

Torch is faster less work on your part, A good reciprocating saw and a few good blades will work but will shake you to pieces.

Are you planing to build out past the side of the frame ? If so you can keep the one extenders (maybe license plate was on it) and the ones holding on the fenders. Hate to cut off parts that you might be able to use. ( if you're going wider )

I plan on sticking with 5 and squeezing a queen in there. Hopefully I can keep the walls thin enough so I don't have to drop to a full.

Back to work this weekend. Chopped the rails off and onto the tedious grinding of the edges and rust spots. Any grinding tips would be welcome. It sure did lighten her up.

Thanks, I am still working on cleaning up the frame. I want to get it sanded and painted. Hopefully then I can really make some progress too. I have some big design ideas I hope I have enough skills to pull them off.

if you look at camp Inn they have a design with a bunkbed in the raindrop design, good find with the trailer
I looked at Harbor Freight, but the axle just didn't do it for me. I bought a new Tractor supply trailer for about as much money as the Dexter axle costs by itself.
I have two tent trailers I got free for future builds, one has a Torflex axle and the other has a Dexter, both are much better.
