STREET LEGAL ! :laughter:

You have to be kidding I am moving a house less than 1/4 mile on an all but abandoned road at the crack of dawn on Sunday morning. No plates No permits No Nuttin' I refuse to plate it as an RV it will make the 24 mile trip from my home now,to it's new site without them. I can imagine trying to explain the tiny house concept to a Bureau of Motor Vehicles clerk. :?

By not plating it I should avoid all personal property tax which in Indiana is rather painful. We pay our personal property tax directly in the purchase of the plates for cars trucks motorcycles RV's and motor homes. Makes buying plates every year expen$ive.

Yep pacel #2 is a black top paved 100?? foot circle. I think I'll paint it green and have a nice lawn that never needs mowing.

Well I don't get the paved portion it is being used as a school bus turn around so all they will sell is the outlying fringe property. :x

I am not sure there is enough to make this purchase worthwhile but its what it is. :oops:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On another note was yard saleing this weekend and tripped over one of these......http://www.homedepot.com/p/Watts-Hot-Water-Re-Circulating-Pump-with-Timer-500800/100426993
brand new in an unopened box. Offered the guy $20.00 Thursday but he wanted $25... Offered the guy $20.00 Friday but no deal. Tuesday with the sale long over I stopped and inquired if it was still available and yep! I knuckeled under and gave him the $25.00 he originally asked. This post make me feel a little guilty $200.00 :shock:
I am going to attempt to couple it into the roof top hot water solar collector and use it to circulate it from a hot water storage tank to the collector and around again at preset times to keep the heat even in the system.
Hmm, busloads of kids twice a day. :frightened:
Could you make your property a trailer park? :thinking: Who says you need to have more than one occupant. :lol:
I have purchased the .43 acre parcel 7/10 of a mile from this piece. I was told the only way I can use these properties for the caboose is to rezone with exclusions/varience for a one unit camp grounds. Then I could stay there. Otherwise I can only reside there for 7 consecutive days. Hence the 2 different plots. When they lean on me I simply move to the other property for the next 7 days of "camping"! Kind of a legal form of civil disobedience.
Guess I should trailer mount the solar collector and the solar furnace and the battery bank and the hot water solar collector and the fresnel lense graywater reduction unit and buy a bunch of quick connects Huh? :lol: :lol:
Hey Bob! You may be able to simply leave it parked there, especially if the rule states that you can live there for no more than 7 days in a row. Does that mean your trailer can stay there without you being there? You might be able to stay in your Caboose for 7 days and then spend one night at your other place, in your teardrop before returning for another 7 days in the caboose. If you carefully switch off the days, (5 there, 1 in the TD; 6 there, 1 in the TD, etc) People will have a hard time knowing when you are there and when you are not, which might keep vandals away. Even if the town tries to rewrite the law, my guess is that you'd already be grandfathered in. :thinking: Just a thought.... After all, some campgrounds have trailer rentals that stay on their property whether they are in use or not.
You know, this might get you a spot on the local news. Very environmentaly friendly. :thumbsup:
You wouldn't have to really say much about your zoning issues. Politicians these days want to be green. 8) I'm sure that they would hate for the zoning story to get out. :twisted:
If you do, keep a diary. Preferably with pictures (date stamped). That way you have proof that you have not broken the law. Maybe you can start a thread on tntt. A travel thread perhaps? :lol: What was it that Bilbo (The Hobbit) was going to call his book? "There and Back Again" maybe. Be a good name for the thread. :)
A diary is a good idea and a date stamped picture file is even better. It's a shame that 'innocent until proven guilty' is just an ideal in some places. Then again, maybe you could get your girlfriend to say that you're staying at her place when you aren't in the caboose.
It is really strange what goes thru your mind when you feel put upon. As I mailed the check I decided I will win this one.
It is my property and I WILL place the caboose there for storage. I have measured and designed inside the 50 x 60 storage building for a 20 x 20 tiny stelth home. I can't live there either (legally) if found out, as there is a lack of running water and sanitation and of course we are still under 750 sq ft (unless I make it 2 story as the building has 14' ceilings). Finally in a moment of epithany I got the answer! This building is a storage facility then it would need an office and perhaps even a night security staff. So it's just the night watchmans office and I am just the night watchman. The dogs can be the security alarm system. Smoke and mirrors just smoke and mirrors.... :D
To avoid any serious vandalism I will gut the caboose and utilize the cabinets appliances ect in the "night watchmans office". The caboose will remain in place on the property clearly uninhabitable (but insured)until I am given the final approval. Meanwhile a sign announcing the upcoming arrival of the "Junction campgrounds pending final zoning approval" will mark the project. I will mow, trim ,plant, and fluff and make it attractive to the passing motorist and hope to gain some local sympathy in the media as "The homeless man with a house" I am thing seriously about a homeless man with a house website to gander some network support in this quest.
We could make this into a poll............ Is Bob totally crazy or just pissed off :thinking:
Some from Column A, some from Column B ? :lol: :lol:
Sounds like a good way to outsmart them at their own game. I love it when you can use dumb rules against those who blindly enforce them.
