Sweet! Now to see if you can make it snow in NOLA in the summer. 8) Maybe a portable meat locker. Hitch it to the back of a smoker trailer and you have a party train. :R   :Flippin Burger:

I'm jealous... wish I had put in an A/C unit. Not sure where I would have put it, but it would have opened up a lot of other camping possibilities to it. Being heat sissies, without an A/C unit, we won't camp anywhere where it could get much higher than 90, with just a touch of humidity. :NC :NC No way we would last in triple digit heat indexes...

It does snow here.... maybe about every 10 years , and it lasts for 20 minutes , then gone ... Once it even lasted two whole days !!! :o

No, she didn’t check it out ... she just looked at and said “Air conditioning “ and then smiled and went inside ... that was about it ... much as expected

It really is Hot here... starts in early May , goes till October .. so AC is much appreciated ... we are acclimated to the Heat , but just don’t like it ... the wife , she’s an Oakie’ , and just is miserable here in the summer ... she’s never gotten used to it , likely by choice... The killer part is the extremely high humidity , where you just sweat and don’t cool ... Already 86F in the Studio , sitting in front of a fan ... and the sun’s not even up yet ... Not really uncomfortable ... yet :frightened:

Now then... for the intended purpose , EVAC... that requires a much higher level of comfort and security ... while you watch/listen the media show endless films of the developing disaster... It’s more a Mental health thing , rather than just being cool ... (and naturally , hurricane season peak is always the Hottest time of the year , August and early September)... so it really is a Must have thing, especially for we “older” people .... Having Much experience at Bugout , the whole idea is to have a cool comfortable quiet and Private place to hang out ... Keep your wits about you , and try Not think of what you’ll find when you get home ... :frightened: In the past , we’ve just stayed with friends , but that’s a Major imposition and really tests a friendship , especially if the duration is longer than 3 days ... Like the old saying , “guests , like fish begin to stink after 3 days “ ... And that’s really true ... and not counting their other friends and family staying there too ... Katrina was a 5 week evac for us and a game changer , some old friends , we haven’t spoken to since ... :o  Sad huh ? The FoamStream should fix all that ... Pull up in somebody’s driveway or backyard , toss out the extension cord , and hide out !!!... Familiarity breeds contempt ... best avoid any potentially stressful interaction with anybody else , because of the situation , they’re just as Crazy as you are ... :frightened: Beer helps !!! Just sayin’ .... evac is a well practiced Art ... best well planned for in advance... First coming here (Mikenchell then) and discovering small trailers , was like the clouds opening and the sun shining through ... the Perfect solution !!!... True Dat!!! everybody on evac with a trailer , coach or whatever seemed to be much more sane than the rest of us ... :?

Sorry to be so wordy ... up early , not enough coffee yet to be lucid .... just babbling on ....    :coffee:

Went to the store , got the extra caulk we needed ... Looked for gummed paper tape .... guess they don’t make that anymore ... :NC Also picked up another gallon of Gripper (#7) But this is for the house ... the house fund paid for that ...

Just thinking , caulking will be almost FUN in the AC ... :D 8)

The wife also sent me on a quest for a battery powered fan ... not many offerings that were beyond ”toys" ... Anybody know of a good fan that runs off 12V ?

Just type "12 v fan" into Google. All sorts of options show.

Mike in FL

BTW, I am NOT considering the Junque old tires, only the lightly rusted 4 lug 13" rims hanging out on your junk pile. :D

Look up marine suppliers. With boatbuilding going towards floating condominiums that need to tow a fuel barge (and having the power to do it), most of the stuff that you're used to running on 110V is available in a 12V marine equivalent. Quality and price run everywhere from plastic RV grade stuff to stainless ones that will outlast us both...with corresponding price.
Wow, that hardly sounded jaded at all

I poked through my marine wholesaler's catalog and and found a dozen, plus a bunch of ecofans and battery-operated ones. I looked up a couple prices to show the extremes, but remember these are Canadian prices so, even though our dollar is mostly on par, our prices still run about 1/3 higher. Somehow I don't think you'll have a problem finding a marine supplier in NOLA, but if you do there are online stores like Jamestown Distributors, a whole bunch of eBay stores, etc.
Seadog 450120: $27 (this is the "RV" stuff)
Hella 006239022: $38 (85cfm, best value IMO)
Wesmar F1000: $51
Hella 003361022: $110 (190cfm & best quality, hands down)
Those are all 6-8" fans

The Caframo 807CA is handy because it can fold flat against the bulkhead when not in use. There are others that can do that, but this is the only one I've seen that doesn't feel like cheap plastic. I wouldn't hang off the mount, but it's pretty robust and is gimballed so it'll rotate through 360 degrees in two axes and has a low voltage cutout (10.5V). It's also a 10" rubber (finger safe) three-speed fan that draws only a third of an amp on high. Being Caframo it ain't cheap: it'll sink the Good Ship Thrifty at $127...

There are a bunch more but those are the only ones I recall having used myself. I assume you've already looked at muffin (computer) fans ?
Are you finding the cold air is all sinking to the floor, or does the a/c blower mix all the air ?
