Help is a very good thing! And just for the record; if anyone is a smoker that is up to you, I'm not & I remember coming home from my old shop which I shared with my mentor & needing to shower because he chain smoked. My kids would wrinkle their noses at me if I didn't.

Ned , this is like “Gift Help” ... all part of and included in the house painting package ... and tired as I am , I’m not saying anything about what others do to themselves... while they’re helping me ... At least he’s outside ... sorta’ .. Since I’ve had to make this whole trailer by myself , it ’s Nice to sit back a while (in front the fan) and enjoy what has been done so far ... and watch somebody else sweat it out for a change :R ... and it also puts me one step closer to Completion ... The end of this month is probably the most likely time we’ll actually Need the trailer ... and I want to be ready, just in case ... :frightened: It’s been very Quiet this year (TG!) but Mother Nature always has a nasty surprise waiting for us ... ... can’t be slack now ... This isn’t about Camping ... this is about Survival ... :o

Smoke and mirror financing ... sorta’ like what the politicians do .... Include all the little stuff in a big bill sure to pass, and no one will notice ... until it’s too late ...

Works on the small scale too .... more like ... “ And while you’re here” ... got this one other little job

Wow,

Tardis it is!

I'm more and more wanting a set of these ribs from Lonnie(?). I don't need the holes, I can drill them out myself with hole saw or forstner bit myself if I need them. (Today's spelling lesson; Need, W-A-N-T, Need he-he) I've got an idea how to use a set of them to replicate the taper in the tail of a Bowlus Road Chief.

What, all of this and aerodynamics too? Cool.

You know , forgoing the holes, the ribs are pretty easy to make yourself ... Just a master pattern for the straight and curved pieces... . and a good jigsaw... ;) Stack em’ together for a little sanding to make sure every one is even ... Couple evenings and you’ll have your own set of ribs ... And you can Stretch the ribs , if you want taller , the straight ones , or make the Keystone area wider for a little more overall width ... Right now , using 2” foam sheets (recommended) , you’d end up at 76” wide cabin (outside ) ... with the standard ribs ...
Basically for a Bowlus , you could just draw out the former shapes to suit the curves... much like building a boat ... a very round Fat inverted boat ... :o

GPW, that is looking great! Evac ready (except for licensing and such)? I read somewhere the National Weather Service is lowering it's severity forecast for the season, but I guess it just takes one to ruin everything... Keeping the fingers crossed and sayin' prayers for you and all the others out there is 'cane territory :worship: :worship: Personally, I use to say I'd rather live with the threat of wildfire than live with the threat of hurricanes, but after watching the fires in Colorado over the last couple of years, I'm retracting that statement.

Anyway, good to see you're pretty much ready for bug out...

Mel , you know , there’s a reason they call California the “golden stare” ... It’s all the dead grass... just waiting for a spark ... :frightened: A recipe for Trouble !!!

It does take just one storm to ruin everything ... even a small slow moving one like Isaac ... cat 1 , but very damaging ... The long duration and heavy rains just “eroding" the landscape .

Fingers crossed , rabbit’s foot in hand , burning my Good Luck candle ..... hoping for the best !!! What used to happen every 10 years , now is an annual consideration ... “There’s No such thing as Global Warming .” ... Yeah Right !!!

One thing we’ve noticed .... During evac the Police are NOT worried about giving out tickets for unlicensed vehicles .... people evacuating in all sorts of illegal contrivances.... It’s more about keeping the traffic moving ( @ 4.75mph )

However , getting back into town may be a different story ... :o :NC

GPW, are you sure he was Elvis & not Eldin the painter from Murphy Brown? Whoever that was, the FS is looking great inside. Am glad you opted for hired help for that part. I confess when you first showed pics of the new color I was underwhelmed. Didn't look bad but wasn't what I'd want. Now that it's done inside I think the color is really nice. It's cool (as in temp) looking, with a soft, inviting tone. I could hang out in there for a long time. Nice paint mixing! Did the walls end up "textured" from stray foam beads? So are you going to leave the floor as is now? With it painted, I think you could just toss in an area rug & call it done.

Mike, the Bowlus Road Chief is IMHO the most aerodynamic TT ever made & it has a surprising amount of usable space. It's shaped rather like a big Quest velomobile. Would love very much to have a Quest along with a Bowlus I could put it in. Will get to work on that as soon as I win the lottery. Please make a foamie Bowlus. Please, please, pretty please!

Mel, I'd rather the storms than threat of wildfire & I've actually ridden out several mild hurricanes. (Is mild hurricane an oxymoron?) In either case I think it's better to EVAC than try to stay.

K’, when I first mixed the color , thought it was rather “meh “ too  ... But on the wall it is very “restful” , just what’s needed on an evac trailer ... a mental health color ... ... and it was free, well sorta’ ...
Foam bits ... they were Everywhere hiding in the kerf cuts ... :o But after a thorough vacuuming , and the guys vacuuming 3 times , pretty much all the loose ones are gone ... and I did go around between coats , picking out the few stragglers that landed on but didn’t stick very well to the paint ... There are still many left in the holes .... Those darn holes might end up more trouble than they’re worth ... we’ll have to just let everything cure/harden for a couple weeks and then it’ll be easy to pop off the strays ...
Another thing , painting the holes was difficult ... had to use a 1” artist bristle brush , and then the paint would all run to the bottom of the hole and run out the sides ... making a nice run ... Many times we looked back around and saw runs from the sides of the holes ... grrrrrrr!!!!.... just had to keep chasing them down ... :R

The walls ended up semi-gloss and smooth save the waves created because the foam underneath wasn’t entirely flat ( my hot wire cutting  ) The chipboard just followed the shape of the foam ... :duh:
The floor will get another coat today , and the Chief Acquisition Officer has already counseled me on buying a Rug for the floor ... She previously mentioned tile for the back , but I think we’ll just see how the painted OSB holds up for a while ... can always put something over it later ... I’m really thinking of going Japanese ... “ No Shoe in Trairer' ! Reave' shoe Outside !!! “
