Wow , just found a nice braid rug to put in the trailer ... problem is , it’s Expensive ... for a trailer that “might” get used . maybe ? ... Being Oval it fits up into the nose .. 5X8 , a bit pricy ... for me ... colorful enough for my oddball tastes ... Decor is expensive ... Must remember, it only costs 90% more to go First Class... :o

Just a random, beer (homebrewed IPA) induced thought. Could you have gone for a textured interior surface to hide those annoying foam bits, or would it have been more trouble than it's worth?

Fern, Thanks ... that looks Nice ... Have to run it past the wife ...

Mel , we could have textured it all , but the foam bits are not on the large areas any more , just in the holes , and not many at that ... The open areas came out pretty good ... after some bit picking ... All my bits were from the kerfing .... Lesson learned, do the kerfing Far away in the yard ...where the bits will go unnoticed .... hopefully
We saw some “texture in a can” , had we done that without some bit picking , it would have only ended up textured , with foam bits mixed in ... :R

A vacuum cleaner is still your best bet for bit removal ... use it often ...eliminate the problem before painting ...

The big problem , and bit generator, was the kerfing ... Using the mini-router , after the slots were cut , there was a good amount of foam that stuck in the slots , and even running a dowel through the slots didn’t remove them all ... beadboard  Next time we do any kerfing , it will be with a hot wire sled like George did .. nice V slots , no Gazillion foam beads everywhere... ;)

The plan yesterday was to have Elvis put another coat of paint on the FS floor (and start putting the BNS on the bottom ) and finish painting my Balcony ... but it poured rain , so nobody showed up :o ... Today’s weather looks like more of the same ... :frightened: Another day lost to painting ... So we just might start the trailer wiring ... that’ll be pretty quick (famous last words) ... Since the weather here always seems to promote corrosion , we’ll be running a separate full length ground wire (white) and not be depending solely on the trailer ground... Plus we’ll be soldering and heat shrink tubing all the connections ... Can’t trust crimp connectors or wire nuts here... :o Should (?) be trouble free for a long time ... I already got the adapter from seven pin (truck) to four (trailer) ... so that should all be pretty straight forward ... should be ?

And Must start on the Mini -Galley ... Gotta’ have that eh ? 79537

Just for my own reference i made another drawing ... Mini-Galley framing ... The outer part of the foam wall will be covered with a thin fabric ... have to do that first ... The rest is all 1X2s ... and a little plywood ... 1/4” with a simple brace ... Still trying to save weight wherever I can ... all these little things add up quickly ... :o ... Also thinking instead of a drawer , we’ll use one of those pull out wire baskets ... Lighter, easier to clean , and won’t fill up full of junk that we never use ...

GPW, I'm with you on using the pull out wire basket. I was actually already planning to use a small wire unit as part of my build. Got the unit waiting upstairs. The unit I have has been around for 15+ years. Originally got it for an apt that looked like it had a big cabinet with lots of storage... until you opened the door to discover there were no shelves & not even a floor. Ack. Have found this unit to be stronger than a wood unit of comparable weight.

However, I also find them harder to keep clean. For me, a solid surface always seems easier to clean than wire units. To get the wire really clean I'd need to dunk the whole basket in water & scrub. And if the need for cleaning is from a spill well... it's wire so that spill just dumped down into a lower drawer & the one below that & on to anything else below. You're talking about just one basket so not such a big deal.

One thing I liked was the ability to put a solid surface on top, like a light, plastic, cutting board. It makes something like a counter extension. Handy when you temporarily need a touch more space.

K’, it just seemed best to do for this trailer ... Simple , and we can hose it down if we need to ... :o

That’s a nifty trick about the extra counter space... 8) 8) 8)

Got the Mini Galley wall covered ... a little sanding/rounding on the edge first for a nicer appearance ... And yes it has a seam .... linen canvas not long enough  But there are seams every where else , so no worries .... While that dries we’ll work on the wiring a bit ... multitasking again ...

Well, naturally , when we went to to wire up the lights it Poured rain again ... :o So we started working on the MG wall ,canvas dry , so we’re gluing on the main framing strip ... This strip in the front and the rib itself , will serve as an attachment for all the cross braces where the shelves will rest on. (as per drawing ^ ) pretty simple ... utilitarian , nothing fancy at all ... The cross braces on the other side will just attach to the rear wall framing ... again simple ...
But as a concession to style , I have a couple pieces of Black Limba , for shelf and countertop faces... just an oiled finish ... a touch of wood should be nice amongst all that green ...

Found the perfect wire basket to fit my 22” X 18” enclosure ... It is a MINI galley ... http://www.homedepot.com/p/ClosetMaid-2 ... gq0dSf8-QK And in the best Salvage tradition, last week we fished two nice slotted pieces of Limba out of the skip at Vinnie’s . A little voice said “ you’re going to need those !” ... Perfect , with a little trimming, for that wire drawer slides ... :D
... and of course , while I was looking around for the wood , found a bunch of cane strips leftover from a chair project ... thought of interweaving the cane with the wire giving it more a Basket “look” ... Sorta’ “woodsy” eh ? :D

The cane weave is a great idea, I like it. (However, it is contradictory to your previous plan to keep stuff from accumulating in the basket!)

All part of the design evolution.

KC, True dat’ !!! We’ll have to try it plain first and see what develops ... I’m just trying to use up all the “stuff" we’ve collected over the years ... The imagination is a dangerous thing.... sometimes we come up with really Good ideas , and sometimes some really stupid ones ... :frightened:

Going to the HD this AM to get the basket (if they have it ) , can’t work on the FS .... more rain today ... again ... It IS the rainy season :rainy:

Well if you can’t work on the trailer , you can always go shopping ..... I’m sure the Ladies will agree ...

HD , got the basket ... we don’t need any pics of that eh ? Also got another gallon of TB2 ... just in case... (you never know )

WM , picked up a few (3) solar lights , all different .... a solar light “sampler” ... Stuck them in the ground , but it’s STILL raining .. :frightened: No charging today !!! :rainy:
Even the wife now agrees they’ll make great “incidental trailer lighting" , emergency lights , or even a good night light in the house ... Now all we have to do is drill a scrap 2X4 (or a nice piece of finished wood ? ) so it will hold the light’s spikes at night, a light stand , like an electric candle holder :D ... Easy enough !!! ;)

You could basket weave the sides and leave the bottom open to have the look without collecting crud in the bottom.
