A lapis background would be better, but you'll still need some faux arches, and where will you put the iconography?

For a bit less Herculean effort than Michelangelo went through, the collage is being reborn and taken out of grade school classrooms. There is a Starry Night made up entirely of Hubble images as pixels and a image of the Earth from Cassini that's made up of snapshots of people waving back at the camera.
Maybe something made up of TD's from the gallery ?

I vote for copying Van Gogh's "Starry Night"
http://lighttalk.via-verlag.com/wp-cont ... ghts-1.jpg
Or his "Starry Night Over the Rhone"

Thought about that , didn’t want to “copy” Vincent ... :R
The example shown is just 3 colors ... black , blue and a yellow-orange “tint" (mixed with white ) ... Paint the sky blue , paint the happy little trees , then paint a circle , dot in some stars ... simple ... ;)
The wife liked the idea !!! :D Who needs a moon roof ?

You know , if you guys (and ladies) wanted a little tutorial , I could show you how to do this very simply ... Sometimes a little painting skill comes in handy for “decorating” .. It doesn’t have to be Art , just a little something simple to dress up our trailers ... And of course all this applies to stripes and other more graphic designs too ... No reason to have a “plain” looking trailer if you don’t want ...
You don’t have to Think you can do it , just give it a try ... As an Art teacher for many years , I believe anybody can be taught to paint with just a little instruction ...

I would love to see a step by step of how you will paint that.

I bet you can make it look easy (...now don't be offended by this next part) ...just like an experienced plasterer with a big hod of mud and a 12 inch blade who makes it look easy getting a perfectly flat wall in one big easy stroke. "The almighty brush" - Bob Ross.

I have a lot of respect for a master craftsman who knows his trade and his tools. Takes time and effort to make it look easy. :applause:

Really ... OK... This one is really Easy and only 3 colors ... Black (or a dark color mix) , blue , and a yellow -orange tint (tint = mixed with white ) The secret is to get the blue just the right tint for a night sky , which usually involves mixing a tiny bit of white with it ...or just going to the paint store , selecting the right chip and saying “ I want that color!” ... You’ll notice the moon is Not white ... :o Never is pure white out the tube ... even clouds are not pure white (you can compare by holding up a white sheet of paper to the sky and clouds ... see ;) ) Everything is colored by the yellow orange light of the sun ... even the moon which reflects the sunlight ... Easy huh ? ;)

Now for the painting bit ... Block in a big shape what you think the trees should look like with the black . It’s only really the edges where the trees meet the sky that you have to make look like trees... limbs , leaf masses , etc, the rest is all solid black . Once you’re happy with that shape , paint the sky in ... and stop at the tree edges ...
Ready for the moon ? Take a can lid , jar top, something round and not too big ...and trace a circle in the sky ...then mix a tiny bit of yellow orange with a lot of white ... I use Cadmium yellow deep , it’s the perfect color of sunlight mixed with white ... then paint in the circle ... After that take the back end of your brush , the wooden pointy end , dip it in the moon color and make some stars by just tapping the end lightly on the surface.... remember to make little stars and big stars , and try to arrange them in an interesting manner, like your favorite constellations.. Then you’re done ... 8) If you want to put the face (craters) on the moon , just mix a very very tiny bit of the sky color with the moon color , just enough difference ( a very subtle change in the color ) to look like a shadow far away ... too much will be too dark and make it look like a donut ...

Do we need pictures ? It is pretty similar top the sunset tutorial in my album ... That little button on the left ...

Here’s a pic of the moon somewhat exaggerated in contrast so you can see the shadows that make the “face” ... If you don’t see the face , just squint your eyes and look at it ... looks like a big smiley huh ... :o
