Bill , after much surfing the net ... came up with this as a plug and play unit for my 2001 Silverado ... http://www.amazon.com/Hopkins-40975-Mul ... automotive Looks easy enough to replace that old 7 pin unit , which is pretty corroded inside anyway ... I’ll check at Wal mart ... that would be too easy and I could get it today ... Thanks !!! :D

tal lights on a truck should pop out easy, find and label the wires on the tail lights, splice a flat adapter in and be done= cheapest
(I just had to do this on my Focus, after spending $60 for the "easy wiring harness" ) on the car I had to pull the whole back and side of the trunk out to get to the light assembly screws, for what I got in the kit I could have done it my self with a plain old 4 pin plug and the adapter out of my last Focus. :x

After all this , there appears to be no factory Plug underneath but a factory wire harness (Just the wires ) is wired into the 7pin plug (spliced likely by the RV dealer who installed it ) .. so for now we’re going to go over to the Local U haul place and see if they have an adaptor that will fit what I already have ... :duh:
Thanks Row , I could wire it into the lights , but the vehicle harness that came in the “kit” is too short  .. another expense and probably as much as a simple adapter ... The Hopkins adapter we got (Wall Mart) was just a little too Big (OD ) to fit in the "Husky" 7 pin receptacle .. and as they say around here , “ if it don’t fit, don’t Faucet”

I’m sure this will all solve itself in time ... Schmaybe' ??? Just one more little thing to deal with ... Now it’s time for mud-flaps and reflectors ... that should be FUN !!! 8)

Etrailer shows a factory plug tied to the frame in their instructions. My 2000 Silverado had the wiring, but no plug on the end. so the kit I bought had a short pigtail with the female end to the factory plug that wasn't there. I just cut the plug off and joined the proper color wires. My guess is yours was done the same way.

Sorry for the rant ... We were just disappointed not to be able to try out our wiring ... especially after doing such a careful job of it ... (even the wife noted I was a bit “Crabby” :o )

So while we’re out , shopping for adapters , we’ll stray by the carpet store and see if they have any “deals “ on small pieces ... 6’X 9’ would be perfect and I could trim it round (half round) to fit in the nose ... 8) That and the chipboard , which should get here eventually, will pretty much finish the interior , aside from all the little bits , which all this extra time (no EVAC this year ) will allow measuring and finding out how everything “should” fit together ...

Eagle ... Yes , we know how that is ?   After 40 years , the farther the better eh ? (she snores like a hibernating Bear :frightened:  ) ... with an aisle for "getting up in the night" ...

And now , the wife has decided to leave "that rug" out in the trailer ... She says it looks Nice in the trailer , and it’s absence in the house makes the great room floor look bigger ... any bigger and we could park the FS inside ... and still not get in the way ... :o Oh well... saves having to buy a rug .... Thrifty !!! :D

Can't you either cut that old Husky plug off, or take apart and pull the wires out, then connect those wires to your own flat 4 or 7 way plug?
