Standie - 84" max?

Has anyone built/designed a standie that can stored in a standard garage with a max height of 84"? I can't see building one and letting it sit out side to be destroyed by the elements (rain, UV, vandalism, etc) or paying for indoor storage.

There are a couple in the hall of fame with build logs. This one is my favorite. I really considered building one along this line until sanity returned and I went with a standard tear.

Don’t forget about The Squidget. One is a standy ( but to tall for a garge ) the other has a pop-up section.

Depends how tall you are

The cedar shack is 80 inches tall. The fantastic fan sticks up another four or five inches so I have to disconnect from the vehicle and lower the tongue a little so I can slide it under the door. With a 10 inch drop floor I have 5'-6" of interior height which is plenty for the wife ( 5-nothin) but not quite enough for me (5'-8"). Still, its plenty of room to stand and get dressed which is all I really need.

Here are some photos of the 'business end' (well, the middle actually) of a Boler fiberglass trailer frame (actually a new frame to replace a rusted one) that was made to achieve exactly what you want. The dropped floor extends through the curbside frame rail to give a level floor inside the trailer. The last photo shows the entrance door point before all the floor supports were added.







This frame design is the key as it gives as little as 8-10" ground clearance near the axle for maximum headroom but then has 12-16" ground clearance at the ends of the trailer where it would ground on dips if any lower.

I build the Whetzeldorfs to come in at 82" to the top of the Fantastic vent. Dropped floor, walk thru door, full size bed, etc.
