Installing some edging this weekend. This is the 2"x3" flashing running along the bottom of the trailer. I chose this flashing because the foam tappers some on the long edges about 1 1/2" from the edge. Would not have been a problem except that when I notice it I had already glued the sides to the bulkhead and made the cuts. It tappers only on one side, the side they cut from I suppose, so I had one side that was tapered on the outside and one on the inside. To hide this I use this flashing because it comes up high enough to bridge the taper on the tapered side, and hugs the foam on the non-tapered side.

I used a combination of Great Stuff and Gripper to glue the flashing in place.

Also worked on the upper edging too. I installed a 1"x2" flashing for the upper hatch area.

And, roof line edging with papered sheetrock beading. I just used gripper to attach the beading to the foam.

Man that looks great!!! Will definitely be stealing that flashing idea should I ever build another... . I never had a need for flashing before, I am guessing you can buy this at the big orange and/or the big blue????

I have been purchasing the flashing and beading at HD. Lowes does not stock the papered beading and their selection of flashing is limited too.

This weekend went pretty well. I was at HF and saw that they had their canvas on sale. I knew that their larger sheet had a seam in it, but at $15.00 for a 9x12 I figured I would take one home and have a look see. I think it is going to work out fine. Going to go back and pick up another before the sale ends.

Finished the hatch (sorry no ) and cut the last of the shelves for the inside. I was going to use wood as a face on all the shelves to add strength, but found the flashing to work quite well. I think it makes for a cleaner look too.

I set up the door threshold too. Not glued in yet, but set up to see how it would look with the shelving and how well it would fit together.

You just solved my issue with my adult beverage cabinet!!! It's a foam lined cabinet and works great but one of the edges of the foam shows. NOT ANY MORE!!!!

Oh man...what a project....reminds me of another foam endeavor...a foam composite kayak with epoxy and fiberglass cloth ,,check out the 40 lb. Stress test...

But here is the thing like the administrator over on that forum said.... How deep is the epoxy-(glue) penetrating the foam.. Only the surface, and delamination was a concern in kayak building and they don't get the vibration like a trailer does...just something to consider!

there has been at least one Puddle Duck Racer sail boat built of foam, and more than one boat. The difference is, unlike a stich and glue boat that depends on the thin strips of fiberglass glueing the seams together, a foamie teardrop has a coplete "sock" of fabric (fiberglass, canvas, bed sheet, etc) that is a coplete outer skin to the foam. I wraps under each side, and is a full outer skin. the paints and glues being used actually stick to the foam quite well, and some builders use a tool that punctures the foam to give the glue a much better tooth.
Plenty of experience with people towing these trailers all over the place shows delamination isn't a real worry. Not to mention the huge experience base skinned foam RC flyers have that prove the whole idea.

I suppose delamination could be a problem, but I am not worried about it unless it happens. I have tested the flashing on a small piece of foam and found that with Great Stuff and Gorilla Glue the grip is quite good. As good as with wood I don't know. I did make sure to wipe everything down with alcohol before gluing and sanded the foam some. I think sanding the foam makes for a better bond because it gives it a almost felt like texture for the glue/paint to grip to. Usually on my test pieces it was not the actual bond that failed, but the foam under the bond that would give away.
