Yup. Best start preparing for winter, GPW. You're only 57 degrees above freezing!!! ;) :R It was a tropical 24 degrees this morning out here in the Sierras. We got a bit of snow overnight... It went straight from summer to winter, again! Second year in a row. Did I hear someone say there is no such thing as climate change???

77F here now , a bit COOL !! NICE really ... (not to be sweating) :D Yesterday when I opened the door to the FS , it was Cool inside ... :o Guess all that insulation is a Good thing !!!
24 degrees in the Sierras , snow ... :o That’s about as cold as it Ever gets around here (for a day or two) ... :frightened:

Climate Change : The most absolutely STUPID thing I ever heard was on TV .... There are actually some people waiting for the Aliens to land on our planet and use their advanced technology to save us (from ourselves) ...
I say .... “NOT Likely !!! “ :duh:

Today is paint the panels day (while the weather is Nice < 90F ) ...After having thought about it , we’ll just prime the chipboard panels on both sides , (the Gripper) , paint the color on , and screw it to the wall ... That seems the easiest way to get it right . (and done ) , although I believe the mix would do a better job of complete waterproofing .... but it’s inside huh ? ...

More thinking  ... after much consideration , we’ve abandoned the idea of a top/roof vent for the trailer ... Put a hole in the roof ?.... here (always raining)? ... "no way man " !!! We’ll just crack' a window ... got 3 of em’ ... But we will be putting in a screened floor vent on the underside of the trailer , to allow air to circulate upwards ... (and out the crack in the window ) ... and since rain never goes up , there’s little chance of a leak ... “ if the creek don’t rise “
But then (more thinking) , with a “potty” inside , we may need a small fan attached/clamped to one of the windows for some “positive airflow” out the cabin ... :frightened: Maybe a small computer fan , solar powered for “Green -ness” (window fan)

Row, kayaking to the North Pole is absolutely the very Last on my bucket list of things to do .... Mother Nature is nothing to trifle with ... she’s been around long before us , and likely long after ... Nice to see some Ice left , not good for sailors, but Mother likes it ... ;)

Doc,
I ordered a couple of different sizes of these 4" 5" and 6" from HD. (cheap)
I wanted something with a lovered vent, and they have a 2" deep flange.
They weren't in stock, and they will be delivered to store for free.
I'm thinking about putting at least one in the side wall vs a top vent.
I'll mount a small fan inside it. And make a foam plug if needed for towing while raining.

That does seem like a really Good idea Tac!!! pretty Nice looking too ... 8) You must be Close to done huh ??? :D

Got the backs of the panels Grippered' ... pretty easy to work with , not too affected by the water based paint (no problems )... pretty smooth surface ... so that works ( yet another “test” ) More able to determine how hard it makes the surface after it dries better... in a couple hours , I’d guess...

Using a small pc, fan one high and one low would great a nice cross flow and help prevent moisture and mold/mildew during storage

Tim , that’s a good point !!! Now it’s all up to the “practice camping “ to see what we really need ... Still trying to keep it as Simple as possible ...

All the panels (both) Grippered' front and back , now drying/curing before we put the color on ... So Close now !!! :D

Got the second coat of color on the first panel , just the second coat on the other one and we’re ready to let it dry ... Maybe put it all in tomorrow morning when it’s cooler and I have H.R.H. to help ... :frightened: ... With a second coat of primer (which I didn’t do ) and a 3rd coat of paint (same), it could be pretty glossy , but then this matches the rest of the trailer ...Wouldn’t want any glare reflecting off the moon eh ?
On a scale of one to ten for Difficulty painting , I give chipboard a one ... VERY Easy !!! 8) :D

Big Saturday !!! And it’s Cool (cool for here ,72F) Good morning to install the panels ...

Panels all dry now , funny , the panels got pretty flexible when the wet paint was on , as it dried , they stiffened up again .. Water based primer and paint (the test) worked fine ... no deformation or swelling with those products ...

Still wanting to test “the mix” on this chipboard , just to check the firmness of the material once “plasticized” ... Thinking this material and it’s ease of use (and thriftiness) could be used as a wood replacement on a trailer ... maybe even a floor (SIP) foam and treated chipboard ? ... eliminating wood almost entirely on many areas ...
Still looking for a way to entirely eliminate the chance of the dreaded Rot ... which always seems to be/start in the wood parts ...

The search for a way to make a trailer that successfully lives Outside ...without decomposing... Something the RV industry apparently tries Not to do , or has been unsuccessful so far at ...

Ps. The Foamie’#1 is still doing well living outside for all this time , but it does need a paint job .. starting to look a little dull .. (and that Pink trailer :R ) Soon as we finish the FS, we’ll jump back on that one and do a little painting ... Can’t decide what to paint on it this time ... tired of the Camo ... Maybe a flash paint job would dress up the simple box ...

Wall done !!! No problems ... I don’t mind the screws ... gives it a kinda’ retro "submarine with a moon roof" look :o  Still playing with the cushion arrangements ... many possibilities  ... All those cargo nets , looks like the inside of an old DC-3 hauling chickens to Argentina... Hola !!!
Picture of the folding HF step too ... just perfect ... :D (Thrifty with coupon) ;)

Still would like to add some type of padded trim thingie’ between the lower wall and the mural ... just decorative ... (tuck and roll 8) ) ...

Nice details. The screw s are all placed evenly; looks good!

Cushions and rug made me think, "nice pad".

Looking very liveable. Anyone would be proud to call it there own. :applause:

On the small trailer: you may want to keep the camo job and just black out or extend the existing paint to the frame. I'm thinking as a single sleeper it would appeal to more of the woodsmen in your area and be easier to sell to support the next project. With FS nearing completion it seems less likely that you will ever use it(?). You could even transfer the reg. (thrifty).

I know there are sentimental attachments, too. Just saying.

I love the mural but just had a thought. Could you make it even more picture window like by painting in faux window frame and sill? Just remember this advice comes from a non-artist :?
