Thinking on framing. Maybe just a strip of wood along the bottom. Don't worry about the sides and over the top as they are visually blocked by the forward rib. A piece of floor or door molding could be steam bent and installed to proved a window frame/balcony railing look. The top shelf could be made to look like a wide balcony railing like ones on many stone buildings.

Sorry, GPW... didn't mean to start that discussion. I just think that scene is awesome. I know you keep telling us it doesn't take that much talent to paint something like and that it is super easy, but I look at it in wonderment. I cannot for the life of me imagine that I could pull that off. Your entire trailer is very well done. We all learned something from the master... Well done. I know it's just supposed to be for escape, but it would be cool to go camping with it somewhere. Maybe take it to a teardrop gathering and show it off. I took mine to the Falling Tears gathering here in No NV and was pretty amazed by the response. It was a blast. I didn't hear any negative comments, mostly folks were curious as to how I did it and were amazed by the solidness of the build. You could educate folks around your area about foamies...

I’d like to take it camping/gathering , and that yet may happen ... but most of them are so far away ... and I have so many responsibilities here... so for now , a little Practice camping will have to do ...

Funny , I still show people the trailer , disclosing what it’s made of , and they think it’s “delicate” ... until I let them beat on the side , and then they all say “ That’s really Solid huh? “ Everybody seems amazed how sturdy this foam canvas combination is .. But we know !!!!

KC , one of our favorite van interior tricks was a carpet strip for trim ... Thin ply or paneling with a thin foam padding spray glued to it , covered with shag carpet (remember that stuff ?) wrapped around it and stapled on the back , and screwed into place at areas that needed some trim , like the wall to roof intersection , and walls to doors .. Looked good , and was easy to do ... We did some in heavy decorative fabrics too ... I may do something like that on that front piece ...

The Pad ...??? You have any good “Pad" decorating ideas/requirements ... ? Coffee table , bean bag chair , small stereo, box guitar leaning on the wall, drink holders ... ??? Maybe some Cool indirect lighting ? Christmas lights (non blinking ) would add a bit of “color" inside ... it worked for Stanley Kubrick

Still have my Lava lamp ... Big ashtray ... No Smoking in the trailer!!! (no frying either) ... How about a big flat ceramic Bowl on the low coffee table for the keys , beer opener, remotes , I phone and a small bag of potato chips ? Beaded curtains ... Gosh , haven't even seen those in years ... I do have several thousand wine corks , saved over the years ...

Thinking practically , I have to have a way for the AC power to get into the trailer ... thinking of a small hole in the floor and a flap hatch ... the hole big enough to allow the connector through , and the flap with a hole in it just big enough for the wire, keeping the bugs out ... The flap part , bigger than the hole in the floor, so it could be moved sideways to completely cover the hole when not in use . Just trying to keep it simple and thrifty ... (see drawing)

My “electrical system" , so far, is a 50’ outdoor extension cord , a GFI box (yet to be acquired /made ) , and a "6-way” outlet ... Pretty Simple eh ! If I need power up in the front , we can run the extension cords through the holes in the ribs .. along with the rope lights (Thanks Ned! )


Ned .... Maybe , possibly , in the future ... this will be an interior to "grow into" , and like everything else around here , there’s always the wife inspired “remodeling” later ...

Been a long time since I’ve given anybody the “Peach" sign ... I think that was in Georgia ... And I guess next it will be black light posters and scented LED candles ...... You can tell everybody’s age by the direction this is going ...

Electrical in - Get one of those metal or hard plastic outdoor outlet boxes with weatherproof the flaps on the outside. Mount it under the corner of choice of the floor with just a caulked hole drilled in the floor for an AC cable to come in through. Run that cable to a standard outlet box on one of the ribs and VOILA! You have shake proof, loss proof and water proof electrical connections for plug in to somebody's wall socket. You can either spend the extra money for a male socket for the under floor box or just make your own short extension cord with two male ends. Just make sure to always plug the trailer end in first as those pins will be live when the shore side power is plugged in. Not up to code, but it works. I've found that RV places will rape you for the male wall sockets but the big box stores can order one for you if they don't have them on the shelves.

And while you're at it why not just run a length of conduit along under the floor and do the hole in the floor thang up front so you have a prettified indoor outlet up there too. You've got a better than factory look going now. Why spoil it with extension cords running along the wall? Although I do remember that in my youth in the south we did have a freezer on the back porch.

Ah yes, shag rugs on the walls. Remember them well. Also remember all the dust they collected and we breathed in on bumpy roads.

I think a simple half circle bench seat with cushions and storage underneath would be quite a good idea. Add a removable collapsing half circle table and you have a card playing, meal eating, foamie sketching workplace at your beck and call. Then hang the flat screen TV flat against the roof or wall on a hinge so you can swing it into place for watching the next showing of Casablanca or The African Queen, both excellent travel documentaries with two exceedingly attractive females leads.

But if all you want to do is relive your misspent youth, then go for it.

That is called a "Dead Mans Cord" for a reason. You can become dead real quick. I believe these cords are illegal in some areas because they are so dangerous not only to you, but others who could be working on the lines somewhere else.
