Hinges are the harder part to find if you want a more typical interior mount trunk hinge. Grabbing the parts from a car may not work due to how they are typically mounted, but many makes will work if you are willing to alter your hatch hinge mounting areas for them. Older Jeeps used an exterior mount one some people have used.

Nearly any gasket will work if you give it a proper water drain grove.

Car type trunk latches are available, both new and second hand. Many junk yards have them. Look for ones that have the key remote from the latch. That way they can be controlled by a rod and lever. Car door latches can also be used. With remote actuated latches it would be possible to have a latch at each bottom corner, and a central control lever operating both of them. Many car door latches look like they could be mounted with a couple modified L brackets. I'd use ones that used a loop rather than a bolt for the pin. They usually give you a flat plate you can mount with screws that could be mounted to a surface. A bolt type would need access to the back side to tighten the bolt. Grab the loops from the vehicle you grabbed the latches from.

Just one of many makers.

Hi all !! I know that I have been somewhat of a shadow on the forum lately but I recently got back from a 4 week trip to Texas. I had a good time. I spent one week in Houston and two weeks in Mineral Wells. My brother helped me get the hatch water tight and helped me build on the inside and worked to get the doors to close and put a 1x2 ring around the door opening. Now all I have to do is get some water proofing around the doors. I did paint it, one coat, after washing off the mildew. Lets just say I will be painting it again soon and then I have some major things to do that nobody can see and pictures wont help but just know it is in the waterproofing area. GPW , sorry but I just didn't have time to stop on the way out and I came back I20 on the way home. Too far out of the way. On the way out things happened here and I just didn't get out of town soon enough to stop on my way to Houston. My friend( my roommates sister ) and I will be coming out to New Orleans so she will get to see it once again and I am coming so you can see my little TD in the real time. so I can see your work of Art, the Foam Stream.

I will put a few pictures up tomorrow.
Didn't realize that it would take so much paint, will go tomorrow to buy more paint.

It's so good to hear from you, Mary, even if it is just a note on what's happening in your life and in your teardrop's "life".
Glad that you enjoyed your 4 week vacation plus got somethings done on the teardrop! It'll be fun to see pictures of your progress...someday....

If you don't find it, you can find adapters for it in most stores that sell cameras and computers. I got a whole various sized set of 'em for about 10 bucks at Walmart.

Or a card reader. Haven't used a cable between the camera and the computer in years. Both of my computers came with readers built in. There is another one built into the printer and incase I am using an older computer, I have an external one that just plugs in to a USB port. Of course, that only works if the camera uses memory cards.

Edited to remove potentially offensive bad humor.

Mary , when I misplace something (often), I try to form a mental picture of the last time we used it ... that helps sometimes .... and then sometimes we find it “right under our nose” ... :R

I try to look for something completely different, and I always find everything that I'm not looking for. YMMV

Found my cable, recent work done: sanding, sanding, sanding and a little more sanding No pictures sorry Now I took everything out and am getting ready to do some inside work. so that is the most recent now to backtrack: While in Texas I got some things done:

113538 door handle

113535 I worked on the overhang after lots of sanding , got it covered and it looks ok I like it!!!

113533

113536

113537

I then tackled the hinge area

113534

I am not real happy but it works No Leaks!!!!

then I came home from Texas and two weeks later I went to the MacPherson clan AGM in St. Augustine, Fla I am in the middle, the man to my right (your viewing on the left) is my brother Jack and to my left is Jerry, two of my brothers. Had a great time!!!

113540 :wine:

I am now working to sand and re paint. I bought an old iron at Goodwill $1.50, for using in the shop, my old one rusted beyond use so I will keep this one in the house. I ironed the dents and the canvas where it wasn't stuck so good. so we will see if it worked. and I sanded. I filled some spots, It is hard to make pictures by myself. I will make some of the inside next week...........

After showing a friend GPWs camo weekender I have been asked to build one made for hunting and camping. Woo Hoo!!!
I told him how much mine cost (uped it ) for the few things left to purchase. and told him that was for the materials only and he asked how much I would charge him to build one? I really didn't know what to say so.........I told him I would think about it.
He wants a simple 4x8 box with one door and some holes for hunting and painted camo. What do yall think ????
