General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

On a lighter note.

Postby Gage » Fri Oct 04, 2013 2:30 pm

I got qualified for Hospice the other day. Is someone trying to tell me something? I mean I want to tell you, I have plans for the future. Although I have had to draw lines through some of the items on my bucket list. I am still planning on going to as many gatherings and vintage trailer rallies (and camping more) as I can next year. Just have to stay in state (not travel to far away from home and have to restrict my camping time to three days or nights at a time). But that's ok; there are a lot of campgrounds with elect. in California and I have my new little travel trailer that is almost finished

And if someone wants to bash me for this thread, that's cool, everyone has their opinion. I just consider the source and move on. So feel free to make whatever comment you want. But remember the question was: “I got qualified for Hospice the other day. Is someone trying to tell me something?"

While it would be un-nerving, to say the least, I personally know people who were actually put in Hospice and then reversed their decline and got out again. Personally, I have been far enough gone that I was on the ventilator twice. I was on it for seven days first time and eight days just this summer. (The bill for eleven days, including those eight was over $180,000. I was very happy for having insurance, and pity those who don't. Hooray for Obamacare!!!) Anyhow, my point is simply that there is always hope. I know I have been a lot happier since I found out that while you can't control when or how you will die, you CAN control how you will live in the meantime. I choose to be happy and have fun and to that end I am just starting my own camper build. I hope to see you on the road as we both try to wear our new campers out.
Live long and be happy my friend,

Darrell

Oh yeah, BEAUTIFUL trailer.

I can tell, you haven't read about Obamacare!!! Yep one offering is cheap but has a $5000 deductibleI and visit limits. And because of Obamacare my insurance has gone up and my benifits have gone down, including medicare. But that's politics and we're not suppose to talk politics. :o

I plan on sneaking over to Buckskin in December. Maybe we'll meet up there. And thank you for the flowers on the Burro. ;)

Gage,

In order to answer the question, one needs to know if you signed up on your own, or if someone else required/urged/pushed.

Either way, now that you've set sail and started toward the sunset, you no longer have that nagging worry like the rest of us...
I hope when my time nears, I can still enjoy every day to the fullest, instead of being depressed and angry that I no longer "control" my life.

I draw inspiration from people like you who keep their chin up.

Waiting for "someday" will leave you on your deathbed wondering why you didn't just rearrange your priorities and enjoy the time you had, instead of waiting for a "better" time to come along...

Thanks for reminding us what's important. Making the best of the time we have left. Might as well start now, since I don't know whether that's a week or 40 years.

I see what ya did there... 8)

At best, I'm the conductor of my life. I take the music that is handed to me, then doing the best I can guide the orchestra through it. Will the percussionist keep time, I hope so. Will the violinist break her bow during her solo, I hope not. If it does happen I'll try not to let it distract me, as the show must go on. I will just try to keep smiling while waving my baton until the music is done. If I'm lucky, and music was truly made, maybe I've made someone smile.

That was at best... Reality... I whistling while sitting on the John, and my dog is giving me goofy looks. It's ok, because I'm happy with that too.

I didn't ask for it. Kaiser suggested or pushed it. But I was supprised when I did qualify I didn't think I was that bad and it did put me on a small downer that day. But I'm ok now, looking forward to how much trouble I can get into in the future. The one good thing is Tanya is now getting some help taking care of me here at home.

Gage,

Hospice care is about qualify of life. A good hospice nurse and company should help you find a safe method for you to continue camping.

Keep on Camping and restoring the beautiful camper.

Another beautiful trailer from Gage. Don't know if I like looking at the trailers or the Fords. :)

Gage, I remember trying to chase you down going across HWY 20 back at one of the earlier IRG's....I'll bet I still can't catch you...great job on the Burro! Building a trailer or chasing you down the road...you're tough to beat! Hope to see you at the Dam. Hang in there guy...lots of camping yet to come, my thoughts are with you and Tanya. Doug

"I got qualified for Hospice the other day. Is someone trying to tell me something?"

Yep, hug those that are the closest to you as often as you can cause you got some living to do and they better hang on for the ride.

I am surprised you qualified as well, even though I have yet to meet you it seems you do pretty well with what problems you have. Someone who is redoing another trailer hardly seems hospice ready. But what do I know?

Gage, I'm profoundly saddened that you need hospice care. I'm also thankful it is still available. I can see see as ay where the only option people have is to take a $2 pill because it's cheaper :(

As far as hospice goes my wife has better Insights, she's the chief medical officer in this unit. She's told a dozen people at least that hospice is a place to live while you still can. Quality of life, not just a place to wait for the inevitable.

The most important thing, If you haven't already, get right with God. God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him for ever in heaven. Until you draw your last breath it's not too late. Don't miss the opportunity. Please PM me if you want to talk about this.

It reminds me of what St Augustine, who definitely is some one worth studying. He was a rich man, educated and very into the pleasures of life. Women, wine, and song. He is quoted as prayer "for chastity, but not yet." Now is definitely the time for that.
