Like mentioned, a completed teardrop can be insured. I'd think that until it is licensed and titled, it would fall under your home owners policy if something happened to it while in the garage, but I could be wrong. Once completed/ titled and licensed, it will take an independent policy to cover it against theft/ damage. Talk to your insurance agent. Your auto policy will cover you if you do damage to someone else while towing, but won't cover any damage to it or theft without it's own policy.
For me...I never leave a trailer in a position at the house without a vehicle blocking it in, to minimize it being "snatched". Thing is, if someone wants it, they will probably do what it takes to get it. Just try to minimize the potential for someone to take it. Locks can be cut easily but they will discourage the lazy criminal. I've got 3 trailers now. Only 1 currently has coverage, the new one will be covered until I sell it. I just baby and keep the tear out of view as it has no coverage anymore. Hasn't for a couple of years now.
At any rate...have a conversation with your insurance agent. Where you live and who your carrier is may affect your policies. Doug
