Took a day trip today, found a garlic festival, a bunch of rain, then wound up getting some tasty BBQ

GPW, my hybrid... from a couple of weeks ago; The Escape ran well. One minor note, it has an annoying and infrequent glitch... the sensor for one of the doors thinks it is 'open' and sets off the alarm. Other than that, it ran great! When I get the foamie built we'll have plenty of room for ourselves and gear! (I was going for the sign in the photo)
I got 'dragged' through the gift shop... they had a loads of branded gear, t-shirts etc... plus the usual kitschy stuff. They weren't making any, but the shop fronted onto their bottling line for the BBQ sauces etc. I had the pulled pork, but evidently their chicken is something that I'll have to go back and get a serving of. :Flippin Burger:

I had a Windstar van (same manufacturer) that had that problem from the day I bought it and it never got fixed. They replaced the sensors, they adjusted the sensors, they adjusted doors, they did everything they could think of but they couldn't get it to not set off the warning. It would go off at the oddest of times and never with any consistency. I even asked them to disconnect the alarm but they apparently couldn't or maybe they wouldn't due to liability issues. I got rid of it pretty quick because it just got too annoying. Hoping that doesn't happen to you. Wish I got your mileage from my TV.

Ouch, not good to hear... thankfully I have a mechanic in the family; my middle son is going to school for auto tech as we speak. I'm strongly suspecting that it is a wiring issue in my case. It primarily triggers after going over one of the many bumps in the central NY highway system. Not annoying unless one locks it up and leaves it awhile... the alarm will go off at random times. :roll: :thumbdown:

Love the truck other than the door sensor issue.

I puttered around this weekend, I did a little yard work, and then spent some time getting my shop tightened up.. I've had a gap at the top of my shop walls since I built it, nice for air flow in the summer, but not so good when it gets cold. I went ahead and cut panels to close those gaps in. Probably next weekend I'll get up on the ladder and install them. That will only be step 1, I will also be fitting in the 2" thick foam drop ceiling, between the two steps I'll be in pretty good shape in just a couple of weeks.

Well, it is a ways down the road, they're taking 50 or so students from three local districts to San Juan Puerto Rico in Jan 2015, we had to put down the deposit on the trip. Immersion teaching... they want the kids to be able to converse and do things like order meals etc...

It may seem like an extravagance or even a ruse by the chaperones to get a free trip, but I can tell you from my exchange student experience in New Zealand, the trip is something that will make an impression on your kids. It will be an experience that will stay with them forever. :thumbsup:

KC, I am counting on it being a great trip for Patrick. I never got to go on one of those big trips out of the country, however I did do two "major" canoe trips as a teenager . One trek into the lakes north - northwest of Green Bay WI, and another week along the west branch of the Susquehanna in PA.

I made a lot of progress on the shop today;
Here is a before. & after I closed in the soffits on the top of the wall.
