Picking out a base trailer now. I'm trying to decide between a cheap 1700 lb capacity harbor freight, or just purchase the running gear and weld up the frame myself. Weight savings and cost savings with doing it myself, (want to keep it south of 500lbs) , but a time saver if I just get it in from HF.
Checked with a steel supply shop here about getting in the aluminum for the roof.
I am also trying to decide if I want to make it the full queen bed width by building over the wheels (and not have to do fenders) or if I want to go 48" and order a custom matress.
My plan (carefully blueprinted in my head) is to build it with epoxy'd and varnished sides with an aluminum top. I want a fairly simple kithen out back with storage space for a small cooler, shelf for a propane stove and maybe a small dry sink with a drain.
I already have one front oval rv window, an overhead vent, and all of my framing wood. Just need to get the trailer picked out or built.
