My LazyBones is Beautiful

Postby robfisher » Mon Apr 30, 2012 10:59 pm

About 2 years ago I sold an old rusty derelict of a trailer called a LazyBones. It was a late 40's era foldout tent trailer I had held on to for some 7 or 8 years hoping for time and money.

Well, I saw it at a local car show. Here are the pics.

Hey, Rob!

That is looking really nice! Does it make you wish you'd have kept it? I have fond memories of dragging that out of Sebastopol for you ... ...!

BTW ... that guy contacted me a while ago, wanting to know what the value might be. Seeing as how it isn't complete and he can't find the pieces to make it complete, it sounds like he wants to sell it ... ...?

Hope all is well with you & the family! Take care, and oh hey ... I hope you are making plans to come down to Shasta next year for the 20th Dam Gathering ... would love to see you guys! As always ...

Yeah, When I saw it I almost cried. We never did find a picture of the correct tent so he just came up with somthing. It was a short show so he didn't take the time to set up the tent.

Sad to say this is going to be the year that was. Shasta isn't going to work. What with three graduations in May, a wedding and taking my youngest off to Colorado for school in August I was just out of time. Don and Carol and Cynthia and I are scheduled for the Redwood gathering. Are you going to make that one? Still debating which trailer we will bring. I'm working on both the Kampmaster and the Jim Dandy. My wife wants the Kampmaster. I'm pulling for the JD.

What you say?!! The guy might want to sell his LazyBones? I'm all ears.

Rob,

It is a unique and "vintage" looking trailer.
Sure would be neat to see the tent design!

I think Grant has pictures of the actual tent but if he's like me, finding them is another trip. There is one other one that shows up at the Salt Flats once in a while and he has an original tent.

Here's a pic of the one I know about here in Redding. What's left of the tent is just enough to use as a pattern to make a new one ... and it is so worn, tattered and fragile that we decided not to even try to put it up for the series of photos I took. But, if you look closely and use just the right amount of imagination, I think you can get an idea of what it would look like with the tent in place. This pic also shows the proper pipe-bunk(s) pulled out & extended for use.

The one that Rob mentioned that used to show up at the Salt Flats occasionally eventually ended up with a tent, but it was all fabricated from imagination ... the one here in Redding is the only one I know of with an original tent, and he's not willing to loan his out for anyone to copy (unfortunately), and I also know that he has turned down some really serious (and generous!) offers for it. I do know that IF and WHEN he is ever ready to sell it, though, I'm first on the list of many people he can/will call ... :D ...!

Thanks Grant for the picture. I do have it somewhere. I keep saying I've got to get organized.
