A take off from the camp-inn raindrop with some 40's styling...would be a fun foam project...Being I have 5 or 6 sheets of 4x10 5'' thick foam left over from my room addition 10 yrs ago hanging around...

Oak, That would be pretty SWEET !!! Probably easy in Foam ... which you already have ...

He means "easier", not easy.

I love the double and triple curved edges, and compound curves; the deco look it gives, but man... even in foam... that makes for a lot of work to get it to look right.

I guess it is all "easy" if you take it one step at a time.

OK, it’s easier than carving one out of marble ... Just meaning that foam carves so easy ... if you know how ... I believe Oak knows how !!!

Heck that thing would be a blast..Hope my neighbor still has all the foam cutting--hotwire-tool +also the tool for cutting out for electrical boxes and wire chases....It has been over 10 yrs...he did his house in foam and concrete and I insulated mine in it....The 5'' thick sheets were 10'' till I ripped them with a hot wire....

Having carved many airplane parts from foam (for many years now )... like nice streamlined fuselages and other parts , we can assure you that it’s not only practical , but really easy ... Foam works nicely with hot-wire, knife, rasp and sandpaper , and you can do it in sections and glue those parts together ... just so no one large area is too daunting . If you make a mistake carving , you can cut out the offending area, and add a new piece to try again ... fool-proof !!! ( You can see how easy it was to carve out the upper nose section on the FS)
Ps. it is Messy ... Always amazing how such a little bit of foam produces so much dust and bits ... Everywhere !!!... ...best prepare for that ...

i love that art deco look. Though it might not be "easy" to make in foam, it's gotta be easier than any other method I can think of right now

That would be one sweet camper. Wouldn't matter at all what it was made out of. There is just no end to the cool factor of it.

Yea I have always liked the Deco era....Remind me of a cabinet I built back in 93 based off an old antique radio we have..I don't have pics. of it just the old drawings.. You make the framework cover with bender board then veneer on top of that. It was built from oak..

Oak, seeing your projects , you should have absolutely NO trouble making this ... Looking forward to seeing more ... You gonna’ make a more detailed drawing ... or just “wing it” ... ?

With the woody in progress..... ,and I just can't keep this home builder of my back to supply 2 more sets of cabinets for 2 houses in progress..
Don't know when I will get to it but I want to do a detailed sketch on graph paper.... I'm 60 and old school when it comes to drafting and such...

I tell you after building a few( http://www.flickr.com/photos/mo_kayaks/sets/ ) Skin-On-Frame Kayaks last year.. Your mind gets to wandering on what to lash up and stretch fabric over next.. Well that is opening a whole different can of worms..

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who hasn't taken the time to master CAD. I like pencil and paper the best. The old draftsman in me just won't go away and it's been at least 35 years since I lasted earned a paycheck doing drafting.
