True Story:
I saw a trailer on Craigslist the other day. It was a single-axle, flatbed 4' x 10' --- something I could build a small covered wagon type cargo-camper on. (A fantasy project, but why not.) The two photos looked pretty good, but then I noticed the tongue that cleaverly disappeared at the right side of the photo. What little showed indicated a single run of 2 1/2 inch square tube) that seemed to be at a angle, a downward tilt as it went under the flatbed.
I emailed the seller and asked about it. Turns out that the tongue is "welded" to the differential housing of a pickup truck rearend and that the leaf spring hangers are welded to thin angle iron that carries the wood bed. It's a disaster waiting to come apart at high speed. "It don't get more hillbilly than that."

My goal...
