True Story:

I saw a trailer on Craigslist the other day. It was a single-axle, flatbed 4' x 10' --- something I could build a small covered wagon type cargo-camper on. (A fantasy project, but why not.) The two photos looked pretty good, but then I noticed the tongue that cleaverly disappeared at the right side of the photo. What little showed indicated a single run of 2 1/2 inch square tube) that seemed to be at a angle, a downward tilt as it went under the flatbed.

I emailed the seller and asked about it. Turns out that the tongue is "welded" to the differential housing of a pickup truck rearend and that the leaf spring hangers are welded to thin angle iron that carries the wood bed. It's a disaster waiting to come apart at high speed. "It don't get more hillbilly than that."

Here's a post about the 'Orange one' - a Rapido, which was
made in France. Quite ingenious, But it Does Need setup
and tear-down each time used, but it still beats out a tent.

Jerry,

:R My brain doesn't secrete anything out the top like yowr talking about here.

But I agree with your point and I'm opposed to "Affordable Health Care Act" forced financial slavery:

...and this:

...but I think I would tow the trailer with it, especially since those little yellow straps are going to stretch and/or pop on the first bump or curve of the journey. :frightened:

:D A one half-size or 3/4-size version of this would be very liveable *and* transportable:

Prem, Howdy;

Think the straps on the Hummer may be these in the 3" variety
http://www.uscargocontrol.com/Flatbed-T ... nch-4-inch
if not they might be the 2" wide, Either way enough to handle the load.

Hank,

Since that's a HumVee and not a Hummer, I think I would convert the trailer and tow it with the HumVee, thus eliminating any need for straps.
