If you "need" to buy a new tool, admit it to yourself; we're here to support your addiction.

But seriously, sometimes I think power tools are over rated. By the time you get the drill out, go find (or buy) the hole saw, pre-cut the canvas with a razor knife and drill the hole, you could have just sawed your way thru with the steak knife. The scoop will cover any slight variations in the hole on the outside and the fan trim ring will cover the inside.

Put the hole saw on your xmas wish list and use it the next time. ;)

Just that a lot of things need a 4” hole ... vents , pipes , fans , etc. ... I still want to add a closable vent to the floor of the FS... which would allow positive ventilation in conjunction with the upper vent ... Hot air rises, goes out the upper vent , creating a slight vacuum , sucking cool air in from the bottom vent ...

Besides the blade is only $20... ;)

I picked up a couple at a flea market swap meet; one was under a buck, the other was free. At least two different vendors had boxes full. Just make sure to read the label to check that it is 12v. I was also glad that I got a couple because when I got them home one was significantly louder than the other and didn't seem to move as much air, so I will use the other one.

if you had that mind set about this whole thing, your build would have cost you a lot more then it did

we have several computer stores around here that have used stuff, and flea markets, great places for old computer fans

Harbor Freight has a set of them for $14.99 http://www.harborfreight.com/18-piece-c ... 69073.html
You've got to download the manual to see what sizes are includes so have pasted the specs from the manual below.

Specifications
Type Carbon Steel
Piece Count 18
Saw Sizes 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/8″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, 1-3/4″,
2″, 2-1/8″, 2-1/2″, 3″, 3-1/2″, 4″, 5″
Other Pieces
Small Mandrel
Large Mandrel
Pilot Drill Bit
Drive Plate
Blow Molded Case

I've got a set that looks just like these that I bought 10+ years ago and for wood, plastic, and light (thin soft) metal they work fine. Thick or hard metal not so good. Only cuts about an inch deep if that's a consideration.

It was mentioned above ^ , the idea of bathing in the FS !!! The plan , wherever we camp , is to have access to real showers , etc. ;)
