Furnace idea.

the only advantage I see here is interior light, for heat the exhaust is placed so high you will get some, but most will run right out the top. in a tiny space like the pod It would be fine, especially for someone aclimated to the outdoors most of the day.
for those of us who live in houses, cars, and other heated spaces I don't see nearlly the efficiency the boxes of the cookie box heater give, each box traps a pool of heated air in the top (as long the the air passages and exhaust are placed low) forcing most of the heat into the metal.
of course in this heater you want a good flow of air, otherwise the glass will soot up quickly

Did we ever decide what's the best way to handle stratification of heat in something tiny like a teardrop?

heat under the lowest part of the floor will take care of most of the problem (the reason the floor furnace is mounted there instead of on the wall) a fan will be needed if that isn't enough

I wonder if the effort to put fins on the boxes is really worth it, testing a cookie tin heater in one of you pods, one with fins and one without, and recording the pod interior and exterior temps over 6-8 hours with the same number of candles would be the only way to put the theory to the test.
you will get more heat out with the inner and outer fins idea, enough to go to all the effort? not sure, only the thermometer will tell.

With needing some fresh outside air in the trailer why have an outside air intake for the heater, just one exhaust hole in the trailer side would be all you need..

Not sure if anyone would be interested here, it's a little big for inside a TD, but people have also made stoves and heaters with ammo cans. You would need to build a heat barrier on your walls cause they can get really hot, enough to heat a large tent in freezing temps. I have had one in my 'To-build' list for a while.

Those are typically liquid fueled, and very dangerous in something like a pod or a teardrop.

I'm going the supermarket today sometime. I am going to look for round cans with cookie tin lids. I think I want to try doing a miniature version of the double barrel stove.

Wow this is a fun thread. Only thing I worried about is, the price of cookies Tins going up now that everyone is going to make a heater out of them.

I know from having a bout with oxygen deprivation in April, when it was 26 Deg outside and I closed my top vent and window a little too much, that it is important to have a good fresh air exchange. Could we use a small heater like with a long inlet tube located low on the floor and vented out the side or top, to help pull out the the heavier carbon dioxide outside? This will make a siphon exact and bring in a little more cold air from the windows. Wondering what effect it would have on the candles.

A round one might be fun to try. The top two cans and the lid of the bottom one can be bolted together. It will make for better heat transfer up. You might have to unplugging the exhaust vent from the trailer to open the stack up.

shouldn't the bottom tube he at the height of the flame? the air in could go out the in!! The rest makes sense to me. I like the concept

look a little big but if you go to Google image and put in ammo Box furnace you will see a lot. seems like they will work out of doors or sheltered area. Look real real real warm!!

As long as the inlet is lower than the first transfer tube it should work.

A little more complex but heres a cool, ahmm, hot little project stove, guy made it for a sailboat, he burns charcole brickets in it....6" by 6" steel box

I'm testing the cookie tin candle heater right now outside in the pod.

I've got 6 candles running.

First 3 of the candles went out. So I cracked the tin so it would get more air. Now the candles are staying lit.

Starting temp 39°F.

19 minutes later: 41°F.

Next test. I threw the Coleman BlackCat PerfecTemp Catalytic Heater out there, and lets see what happens. It supposedly throws out 3000 btus on high.
