Foamie’ screen door...

Now who doesn’t want a screen door .... ? Saw this in the GD , posted by Steve.... A door within a door .... It looks like this would be pretty doable on a foamie' , a little more complicated than a regular door ... but the idea of a screen door might be appreciated , camping in really Nice weather ... I need to make some drawings ...

I just made my wiley windows as large as possible, with the glass out I have a screen door.

should be fairly easy to do (those are famous last words!). I wish I had thought of that. Although there aren't a lot of bug issues out here in the west, you do have to remember not to turn on any of the lights inside the trailer to avoid attracting the little critters. I just leave both doors wide open and turn out the lights. So far, no issues....

I think it is a neat idea but I think I will use another method for my screen. I plan to sew a door that will be added to the inside. I guess I will just have to take lots of pictures. It is cold I thought we were in global warming? This is not warm!!!!

Mary , this is just an “intellectual exercise” (which means it’s Too Cold to go outside ) ... Thinking of different ways of doing this ... There’s always that Magic screen (as seen on TV) ... velcro or magnets ?

Whoa !!! I just killed a spider the size of Cleveland in the Studio .... A screen door (or a barbed wire fence) might have kept her out ?

I am going to use velcro and probably some magnets too. I am going to staple it to the inside of the door frame and probably have velcro Who knows/ I have just not gotten there......yet! It is cold!!! I am bored and still sick but not sleepy. I have been reading and reading I find I also am in a really sarcastic mood. Bad Mary, Bad Mary!!!!!!Back to the screen I am thinking a dowel to roll it up on when not in use. I don't know just ideas .............

I was thinking along the same lines when I saw Steve's post. The only thing I see with your drawing is the hinges might pose a problem. You need to use an offset hinge on the inner door section so the pins stay in alignment with the main door. Otherwise, you would not be able to open the main door while the screen is open (and presumably secured from flopping) without the doors binding.

Bill, our little RV trailer had a door within a door thingie’ .... I should have paid more attention to how it was made ...

If you have the room, do an internal thin sliding screen door.
Get an appropriately sized storm door screen or large
window screen insert and install "U" channels on the floor
glue or screw] and ceiling, where the wall meets them
and use them to hold and guide the screen, which has become
an internal sliding screen door. ["U" channels can go at the
ends of the floor and ceiling channels [between them] too
if you want to limit its slide distances]A handle should be easy
enough to devise too, if needed. You could probably get a
storm-door company to make a custom sized one for you
if you can't find one the right size to repurpose.

This is a simple approach and eliminates the expense and work of
installing a separate or an integrated hinged screen door. But,
of course, if you just like the "look" and want to do the work,
forge ahead with one of those instead of the thin screen slider.

yep!!! I agree! The one I make can be replaced without much trouble. I used to worry about my safety with just a screen door but I keep going back to the fact I camped with a tent for 40 years. so I think a screen door will work. I like your Idea though and if I decided to build that huge standie I might consider it.

I almost put one in my tear, but the idea of a net hanging there all the time, getting in the way of the door and snagging everything the wiley window was easier and out of the way when the door opened.
