27F here now ... feels like 19F (wind chill) ... Don’t feel so bad now for testing @ 30F , (just 3 degree difference) NBD...

Some kind of floor pad insulation thingie' would be nice ... Just a little bit would do it ... the rug made a big difference ... didn’t measure anything , just went by how it felt. We did also feel the walls and ceiling inside , and the chipboard wasn’t cold at all ...
Well, that certainly proves once again , insulation is a "Good Thing “...

Now I’m thinking of making some foam panels for the Studio ...especially to cover the two Sliding glass doors , which must leak a Lot of heat ... or cool ... originally I’d thought of some thick drapes over the SG doors ... but foam would obviously be better... (likely cheaper too) Next challenge is to insulate my metal roll up door , which conducts heat and cold like crazy ... The big offender ... No idea how to do that ... but we’re working on it ... (this will be a BIG benefit in the HOT summer months too )

34F here now .... much warmer ... supposed to get up to 50F today ... maybe we’ll work on our tan... At least the deep freeze is over ... for now ... Supposed to be 70F by Saturday .... and rain ...

Not feeling the love for this part of the country. But we don't need it now. Starting tomorrow we won't be seeing dashes in front of our temps for a while. Got my last oil change and went with heavier oil because it's "well" broken in. then the temps went down to 20 below for daytime. Guess who didn't drive his own vehicle for a couple days.

Don't remember what the bottom of the FS looks like but surely there's room to piece in some 1"-2" thick panels under there for most of the floor space.

I have one of those Big Buddy gas burning heaters that can run off of two of those little green containers or with a hose from a bigger tank. When I was working at converting my non-insulated fiberglass body shuttle bus (about 8' X 18' inside dimensions with windows all the way around and a school bus type front door) it kept the interior at around 65 degrees with a couple of the windows cracked open, temps around zero and the wind a howlin'. Took a little while to get up to that warm but I love the little thing. Low oxygen cut off protection, but I never really trust that sort of thing. The Little Buddy is the same unit with a lower rating and can only take one of the small green tanks at a time. Either one could probably cook you out of the FS if there were no electrical hook-up handy. They often go on sale at the big box stores.

Looks like things are getting a little warmer ... I know that’s much appreciated by us all ...

Yes, it is difficult for us, nor being acclimated or prepared for COLD like that ... But the House and FS being well insulated really helped ...
I really hope everybody up North came through this all right !!! I know the cold there can be quite damaging ... besides the inconvenience. Not so Bad here, I just lost a few plants ...

Ps. Back to the FS ... I still have to drill a hole in the floor in front to add a bolt to the very front clamp ... Difficult determining exactly where the hole should be ...but I came up with a method... We took some neodymium magnets and placed it on the brace location where the hole should be on the bottom ... Then took a Compass inside and looked for the needle deflection ... and we were easily able to determine where the hole should be , the compass reading even through the 3/4” OSB floor ... Just another trick to add to the list ...

Another week, much better weather forthcoming ... The plan this week is to get (buy) the new coupler and safety chains... Then go to my friends house down the street and get it welded up... ( got some Nifty safety chain retainers from KC ... Big THANKS KC !!! )
That pretty much makes the FS ready to tow out to the State Police for trailer stamping .... I’ve got all my paperwork in order ... Hope it’s enough to satisfy the bureaucrats .

One of the very last things we’re considering is the suspension ... again ... We still only have about 2.5” clearance between the tire and the floor ... and although we’ve had the wife and me in there, the springs didn’t seem to deflect at all .. I guess the only way to test if the clearance is enough is to take it for a ride . I can get some lift blocks to add a little more clearance.. or get new springs , and then those little tires do still look a bit small , although the FS is Lightweight... I wouldn’t be adverse to trying some other kind of tires ... I ran the numbers and each tire is only supporting about half the weight of rated capacity .... and then we never drive fast ...
Sure would like to get the tires/suspension all sorted before EVAC season, everything else is tested and ready to go ...

Thanks Mel , working on it ... I checked at wal mart and HF and it seems they handle the same brand of coupler ... I guess that brand is OK ??? being a Cheap cpupler , I’m wondering if I should just bolt it on (with Good bolts) , so later I can change it easily if it goes to rust. We’ll have to weld on the KC safety chain loops anyway , so I don’t know ???

And its getting COLD again ..
