In 8 days I will have been married to my lovely wife, for 36 years. I have never had the desire to spend a night anywhere without her…nor she me. :)

Your results may vary... :D

I wouldn't say that we feel any need to be by ourselves, but there are activities I enjoy that Karen does not and vice versa. Some of those activities mean that one of us will be off somewhere for a day/night or two without the other. That's fine with both of us.

I get enough nights away from the wife, some weeks it happens twice in the same week. In my line of work being willing to travel at the drop of a hat is expected. Lucky for me these trips are only 1 overnight 99.9% of the time.
we both hate every night away from the other, 14.5 years of marriage, and 17 years of dating. If you really feel that way after you are married, are you sure you got the right one?

I know I got the right one, but getting married at the ripe old age of thirty means we're both used to time alone and we are comfortable that the other will be there waiting for us. I never do get tired of her though, she just can't always get away when I can. Every couple may be different and it's all good.

33 years of being married. Can't remember how long we dated before that! My husband is in the Navy. He travels a lot. One or two weeks here and there are fine, but the 9+months really bite. We are also away from each other when one of the kid is in the hospital (which is quite frequently, and for long periods of time). And then there are the camping trips my other daughter and I make alone (while he stays with the sick daughter). It is REALLY appreciated when he gives me time to get away, but I'd rather it be going away WITH him, not without him. For me getting away is getting away from regular life, not my family.

BUT-
If I read the first post correctly I think Slow was asking if we thought it was crazy to have 2 teardrops. He wasn't wanting to part ways with his first teardrop and wants to build another one, but wants to keep both of them. I don't think it is CRAZY, but I wouldn't keep 2 just for me. I'd use the first one to pay for the parts for the 2nd one. But, if they were different types of campers I would be way more tempted to keep them both. Maybe your wife would like to camp with you if she had a camper that she likes? If she had a camper that SHE likes then keeping the teardrop for when you go alone might be more reasonable IMO. Just a thought!

the other side, you are right on the two teardrops. I missed that on my initial read.

I'd say no problem with having 2 if there was space to store them both and no economic hardship was involved.

It seems like a personal "issue" to me. As George suggests, what's wrong with going camping alone in the new 5 foot tear? Yet if there is something of a personal attachment to the 4 footer… and as Don says keeping the two isn't any kind of a hardship.. then why not.

I am pretty sure each relationship is unique also. I can appreciate that those that married older might have separate interests.. that kids, work.. any of that can affect things. In our case we married young, and have no kids, and have the same interest. We truly prefer being together, vs apart.

We've been married for over 40 years & I feel that there is definitely no standard answer here . I suggest doing what feels right for you & your wife . I personally see nothing wrong with either spouse wanting to have some " alone " time & it can even make the relationship stronger .
As for keeping both teardrops , maybe hold onto both for now & if you find there isn't a need to have two campers down the road, then sell one .....................

LOL you might have to keep it now. :o  If I were her I'd want to murder you for posting that! Just had to laugh because it's been almost 12 hours and no one else posted after your last statement. It may have been a thread killer  I'd say keep both and use the 4 wide no matter what time of the month it is.

I always solo camp ! Which jus means that I'm "single". Ain't found that "middle aged" nympho, super model, lotto winner that loves to cook and clean... GEESH !

I also do a lot of "group" campin. Which means I sleep alone , but enjoy the company of others.

Do what YOU wanna do ! Ain't nobody else gonna live yer life fer ya !
