Yeah, maybe so. OTOH, it sure simplified that part of the design a bit. Didn't have to stress over axle width, actual trailer width, spindle face-to-face, etc. And ground clearance. Don't forget ground clearance. For that, you have to compare to a torsion axle, and they're somewhat iffy.
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

Must be one of my worst habits not updating things

The tear is coming along i am into doing final cabinetry and mechanical/plumbing and electrical hookups.
Alot of it takes time as i make jigs for everything to speed the process up next time.

UPDATE

As i used Iroko and cane for galley doors/drawers i thought to mix it up by changing style for inside cabin.
As i personally like the look of Louver doors i remade my jig and made some. Using Western yellow cedar old growth of course. Being a boat-builder by trade i have a good stock pile.

Installed in cabin

Yhe structure of the Tear is done everything is built and sanded surfaced for final finish. couple of shots of outside with a door on passenger side.

Propane hot water mounted on passanger side. Still needs box over it after it is plumbed in .
Image

Wiring and water system going into recess and cupboards in galley.

Assembled and mounted front deck for propane and battery's. Need it in place to run wires and propane lines.
Image
Image

Worked on installing the side boards in front and behind tires need to finish my fender mold so they need to be fixed in place.

Got hot water heater plumbed and box for it built. box not mounted just hanging there.

I finally got the last of my electrical bits so i dove into plumbing and wiring for a bit.

So most of the lower plumbing done i installed fridge and put galley lower doors on. Reinstalled drawers etc.

Finally got my main rear hatch attached ..

The one i have is actually the first of its kind.

Its the 2000/3500 lb so 2k suspension with 3500 lb spindles for electric brakes. when i first started dealing with timbren they did not make this combo after discussing it with their engineers its available as a stock item.

Been awhile since i added anything to this thread thought i should update it

Trailer as it sits right now is basically finished will try and catch this up to date over a few days.

One of the problems with offroad style trailers is finding fenders to cover larger tires so i made my own mold and cast some.

Other issue i had was for a sink. I really did not like any i could find on the net so again i made my own mold and cast 1

Installed my running boards

installed electrical panel and solar panels.

Wow been a year since I added anything to this. Trailer is finished and in use works well. Though I am going to change my suspension out this summer to independent air bag suspension. it will work better for areas I like to travel.

some completed shots of trailer.

Wow, that's an awesome build. Nice work!

It looks like you've thought about everything, with gas, water, even a shower! Now that you've camped with it, what is your favorite thing about it, or what features you would recommend to someone else building an off-road trailer? (I love the solar-powered electrical system, by the way.)

Cheers,
Lauren

Beautiful job on design, fit & finish on your land yacht! Looks like it will tow well & take you where you want to go. Really nice job on the mill work, congrats.
