Trailer for Lost Hikers

Currently we have assembled a Harbor Freight 1720 Lb. Capacity Super Duty Utility Trailer, 48" x 96" Haul-Master - item#94564.
No frame modifications, yet.


Currently thinking boxy style stretched from 4x8 to 60-66" length of 8-9', overall height of 6feet, no change in wheel track.

Specifically this model, but smaller.

Thought I had seen that design some where! Should be fun to see what you do to improve on what they did and make it your own. I was fond of the TVan also from there. But I am not a 4x4er at least not now. My cousin is the 4x4er in the family and a desert rat too.

We usually drive on some kind of road. Not the hardcore off roader by any means. but have been known to ford small (no snorkel) creeks.

great concept to build... just be carefull building a straightback camper like that. Mine is a straightback and the door height would be a factor if I was over 6' tall. At 5'10", I have about 3" clearance. It stinks to build something only to figure out near then end it doesnt work (as you originally planned). Good luck on the build.

Thank you, I had not thought about the open height. I was trying to make the height to go under a carport. However that plan is falling by the wayside. I just did dry fit with actual material, found an issue with clearance on the sides. More measuring and possible change of materials.

Watching glue dry, and the trailer grows to 64" x 96".

Floor joists are glued (Loctite PL Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive) and screwed.

First piece of insulation (Owens Corning FOAMULAR 250 3/4 in. x 2 ft. x 8 ft. R-4 Squared Edge Insulation Board) is glued down.

Put the fender bolts on head down. This may prevent tire punctures from the end of the bolt.

Wheel well is covered, allowing a flat floor of 64"x 108"
