An incredible design idea with outstanding craftsmanship

Postby Chinookered » Fri Jun 06, 2014 8:50 pm

So I came across these today in my journey across the interwebs. I find the design, simplicity and craftsmanship to be absolutely marvelous. Take a look for yourself. (And be sure to watch the set up and take down video... It will make your jaw drop)

One of the things we like about our tear is that it is well insulated and as a result quiet. Those times when your camping neighbors want to share their music or loud partying or... Hybrids just strike me just not a great idea.

They call it a teardrop but in reality it's a fancy tent pop up trailer with a teardrop shape.
Like said before it offers no insulation or privacy from others noise.
Any hungry animal could enter it easily.

I have always thought that the Woodwind trailer design is brilliant but it is a pop up. Canvas walls, no quiet interior. Also if you click on the (Home) button you will see that they have been out of business. I think it has been about five years now. They have been for sale but no takers yet. It is only a teardrop shape but very cool. They sold their prototypes also soon after they closed. I do not have recent information. Goggle Woodwind Trailers and you get just their old information.

Yeah, the price definitely was teardroppingly high. lol

As for the sound, I feel that with the right materials, it could be quiet inside. If the outer shell was a foamie it would greatly add to the noise reduction. I like the hybrid idea of the canvas cook area so that it can still be used during crappy wet weather. And for having spent many a nights in a canvas tent compliments of the US Army, a good heavy duty canvas can be quite a good sound barrier. Usually its the people inside snoring you have to watch out for.
