Well my favorite store in the whole wide world was very good to me today.

For $6.99 and tax I purchased a 6' wide bow topped window. The radius looks to be a close match to the radiused roof on the caboose. I plan on installing it in the rear wall of the cupalo to gain some natural light.

Determined to not let 6/11/14 be the day I lost my house , I decided it should be the day my new house became one with it's property and my new home.

With that in mine we Hooked up and were ready for the 35 mile trip.

Traffic was all but non existant. We took the county roads and only saw 6 oncoming cars

One tight moment was when we approached an electric crew in one of their giant cherry picker baskets with cones in 1/2 of my tiny lane. I was determined to remain on the pavement as the shoulder was all but non-existant. I think I moved 4 or 5 of the 18 cones they had out.

The corners required me using all 4 lanes the two I was on and the 2 I was turning onto as the front overhang of the caboose allowed only about a 15 degree bend in the track of the trailer.

The approach was a straight shot in thank God...Image

And it was muddy Image

Here is a shot from the back yard Image

and a shot from the front yard..Image

Next step is to level the tiny house.

But it is home......... :applause:

Thanks to all.....

It is hard to believe it has been 2 and a half years since planning started on this project.

The thought took seed December of 2011

Demolition of the old trailer started in April of 2012

It arrived home in the drive in May of 2012

By June 4th of 2012 it was naked

and I started making sawdust on June 11th of 2012

on October 22nd of 2012 it had a real roof and was dried in and the same week it was painted.

Winter came and life went on hold and by early spring in 2013 I had rented the big storage barn and started the exit out of the house in May of 2013. The poor caboose was ignored from this point until Mid May of this year.

I had to take time out to build the house in a house. By Mid May almost a year to the day everything was moved out of the house and over to the barn. It felt as if someone had taken their foot off of my throat. The incessant flurry of construction and moving weekend after weekend cost me a great gal who I had been lucky enough to find after the divorce, but life had to move on and she did. Here we are 2 years and a week after the first board was cut , and the tiny house is finally in place and fully insured. (without a bit of trouble "Progressive" ). I still have a ton of work to make it fully functional but it has everything the house in a house has now except electricity. I have to get the solar units mounted and get the support trailer fitted with the water storage, the solar panels, the batteries, and wire it to the house. I am rather desirous of staying off grid so I will be asking a lot of stupid questions of the solar folk. Well in my long winded way I am trying to say that despite the odds, time will win out if God gives you enough of it. Every part on the caboose ( and the house in a house) are paid for. The lot was purchased for cash so I owe no one for any part of either of these projects. I am in fervent hope I can convince the zoning czar that my tiny house is not a threat to the economy of Clinton County Indiana and that the mayor and his youthful and progressive ways will come to my aid.

No this is not the end of this thread just a turning point and a moment of reflection

Now, once you have the caboose level, you'll be able to get away for an afternoon at the caboose "cabin" whenever you want.
It would be cute if you could set up your utilities trailer so that it looks like a train car or, better yet, a train's engine! If the contents of the trailer will be enclosed, and I'm betting that they will be, you could maybe paint a simple train engine on the street side's wall or even attach various metal and wood pieces together to look like an engine in 3-D!

There is a spot that is yet unpainted on the side of your caboose. I'm guessing that this is where you intend to put an outside light? ...Maybe an individual solar light?

In the older pics you will see I let the rubber roof drape down the side. I had my head up under it when I painted but there were spots that just were not accessible so they were to be touched up when the final trim was installed. I am going to install 1x2 batten strips at 24" o/c much like the older wooden caboose's were constructed. The tiny house will get another complete paint job at that time. There is still a lot of the white trim to be installed as well.

I would like some feed back on one thing........

While I like the dental moulding at the top as a feature it looks too dainty to my eye. If I were to install a 1x4 at the top in white and then paint the moulding the Kabota Orange to match the sides perhaps this would give the top moulding a greater presence. I would like some opinions please
