Is should I cover it with aluminum or try to repaint it thanks in advance.

I considered using silicone for my trim. I am so glad I used butyl tape. I skinned mine in aluminum, butyl tape, and aluminum trim. I like the idea of minimal maintenance.

Go for the aluminum skin if you like that look.

If not... I would take the trim off and re seal with butyl tape.

Good luck.

What type of aluminum did you use I'm on a budget but thinking about using aluminum trim coil I can get 5x10 sheets for 90$ a sheet but its raw aluminum the trim coil is rolls 2' wide and 50 long so it would have to be lapped

I just redid the corners of my trailer because I had used silicone and found it wasn't sticking very well. After removing all the silicone caulk with lacquer thinner I used Eternabond tape to seal the corners and then put the trim over that. Eternabond tape is used to repair holes and tears on rubber roofs and sticks to about anything. It comes in different widths (I used 2" so it lapped the corners about an inch on each side) and I bought mine on ebay.

I used 5x10 5052 aluminum sheets 0.032 thick. I used RV trim for the curved trim over the top of the teardrop. I used wide lip RV trim for on the galley hatch. I used 1 inch angle, 6061 I am pretty sure, for the straight trim. I used 1 inch angle with one leg ripped down to about 1/2 inch (to make it easier to bend) for door opening trim and galley side walls. Ripping aluminum was easier than I thought, just take it slow and wear safety glasses! I used some special aluminum T molding for around the doors. I ordered the RV an T trim from Grant at littlebear. All the rest I got at a local steel supply.

I added up all the butyl tape that I used once... Something like 200 feet! All that trim adds up.

I would not want to use the 2-foot roll aluminum... Too many laps and splices! If you did it right, it should be fine, but... shudder... I know I couldn't get that right. One of the big points in aluminum for me was the big sheets with no holes. :D ... But then I promptly cut doors holes into them. :? Anyway, you get the idea.
