Hello from Sunny Sn Diego

Postby Bill n Robi » Tue Dec 16, 2014 3:24 pm

Well, it is raining today but for the most part the weather is here, wish you were beautiful.

For some reason my initial post ended up in the great big bit bucket in the sky so try number 2.

We are long time tent campers from Nor Calif, relocated to San Diego. A bit too old and no garage to work in so we bought an already made from Little Guys. New truck and teardrop scheduled for late January or early February. I have already enjoyed the cooking threads, I am a great cook according to the wonderful lady I married 30 years ago. If you are in a campground and smell water burning, you'll know she tried to cook again.

Hope to see others at a gathering soon.

Welcome to the Forum
There is a Gathering right in your back yard March 26-29th at Lake Perris.
Apparently this is one of the premiere Gatherings on the West Coast.
Hope you can make it to the Dam Gathering at Shasta on May 1st, as we would love to meet you.

I have been there before, about 40 years ago... I keep looking at it and wondering if everything gets here in time, and we get organized, just maybe. Switching from tent to trailer means a lot of changes. We started two piles, one of stuff we can use and a really big one of not going to ever be useful again. I really would like to get to the dam gathering, we have boat camped and houseboated on Shasta several times. AND with the rain, there might be water in the lake this year. Look for the big white boxer, that will be us.

Think we found a spot to try setting everything up, just to make sure it works. Now if I can just learn how to back the darn thing up!

I tent camped for over 50 years before I built our teardrop........loved it!
But hardly give it a thought since we started TD camping??
I know Sandi will never go back!
She was a good sport about it, but the difference is now she "really" does look forward to going camping and participating in any Gathering we can find. 8)

Hi Bill n Robi, welcome to the forum. Good choice, a Little Guy, I know you will enjoy it. As a fellow So Calif teardropper in Wildomar, about 70 miles North of you, I encourage you to attend the Huge gathering at Lake Perris in the Spring. The gathering at Lake Shasta, is another that you don't want to miss, as there are tons of fellow teardroppers there, anxious to meet you. Plan on it. Now, if you have a few hours to spend, head up to Wildomar and we'll talk teardrops, as I have 3 of my homebuilts at my place. The coffee is always on and am always anxious to talk teardrops with anyone willing to listen. Looking forward to meeting you.
:) Roly, the li'l Ol' So Calif Woody guy.

Guess I need to learn how to do multiple quotes...
Will get that way soon I think. Of course your signature makes me cry... My parents sold my '47 woody while I was overseas. By the time their letter got to the backwoods of Turkey and I replied, it was gone. My first car and first restore. Miss that thing sooooo much.

Hope to get to both gatherings but need to get everything and test it out, don't want any more surprises.

Remember life is too short to go on whishing for things.
If you love 47 Woodies? Replace the one you had!
Where there is a will there is a way!
Are we talking a trailer or a wagon here?

'47 4 cylinder F-head, 3 speed on the column with a two speed overdrive Imperial Beach surf wagon. I bought it as junk for $400 in 1965, stripped it down, rebuilt engine, transmission, restored all the oak. Then I got my license and learned to drive it in the back yard, figure 8's for hours at a time. Even though I was draft-exempt because of on my poor eye sight, I enlisted in the army and was over seas when I dad was relocated by his work and they did not have a place to park it.

Not having a place to even build a tear drop, just not going to have the chance to recreate that part of my youth. Only looking forward to the great adventure ahead of me.

Places to go, things to see, new friends to meet.
