Bob, i bought mine for 250 bucks on ebay..it was covered in sheet rock dust, and the pull rope was broke, but it runs like a champ, and i've tuned it up and put a pull rope on it myself for under 60 bucks...drove from Savannah to Daytona to get it.

What a deal!

I would do the same if the opportunity presented itself.

And besides, it the temps were right, you could also enjoy the beach life. :icedtea:

Well, I did a lot of research after we ordered our T@G. Yeah, I know great time to think about it. I had issues with generators and the wife has issues with heat. Since we are on the coast in San Diego, we have the beach RV camp sites and a short trip to the desert so we will get one.

I don't like carrying gasoline, I hate the smell of engine exhaust, what I found was a propane conversion kit, and though I am sure I can install one - the best deal was a preinstall on a Yamaha that did not void the warranty. Not just that, the local dealer wanted more than the price of the preconfigured shipped from the east coast! I also like the Yamaha because you can add an extension easily for the exhaust and port it to area away from the truck bed where I plan on mounting mine. Also electric start add for free, a tuning system for altitude changes.

But if you go for something different, I would still suggest the propane conversion kit. Bonus, works with natural gas if the home is in a power outage.

Nice choice. I will keep it in mind. The specs do look good. I like the weight and it as a few more watts listed then does the Honda 2000.

I just saw this post and wanted to bring up Champion's 2000 watt inverter type generator, which is what I have. I am very satisfied with the noise aspect, and it will easily start and carry my 5000 btu AC unit, even on the economy setting, where it will run about 8 hours on a little over a gallon of gas. I have no problem loading it in my pickup since I can use the lift I put in to load my handicap scooter The reason I did the quote on the earlier post tho, is that while I know very little about propane generators, I would expect that they would be about the same as automotive or equipment applications. Those lose about 15% of their power and fuel economy according to the tests I have seen. Of course, this could have changed since I retired (in 1998, from being a heavy equipment mechanic).

Vehicles still suffer greatly running LG or propane as its known there.
As for a generator I wouldn't know but I'd say it would too

Yeah, I factored in the power loss. The 2400 watt unit should give me close to 2000 running, which will be 1500 actual and that on paper is going to work. The next level up cost another $1000 and I don't think I can justify it. I'll use that money for solar to keep the batteries charged. I have an extension cord to plug the AC unit directly to the generator, if we don't need the AC then I will plug in the T@G to conserve 12 volt.
