Bespoked ......

Postby trikingtype » Sat Apr 18, 2015 1:29 am

Hi all,
I introduced myself on the Newbie forum (five wheels is the way to go)
I have now almost finished the frame and suspension. The rims are aluminium 18" Weiman BMW, the spokes are s/steel, the hubs are bespoke Triking items. The stub axles are from a Triumph Vitesse mated to 250kg trailer suspension units, the tyres are 400 x 18 Avon SM's.
Now for the body ......

Andy

Hi All,
Test fit of body on frame. I have not decided on mudguards yet or the final shape of the bottom curves.

Very cool. I would match the front guards on the Morgan TV.

Road test completed, tows really well, just need to polish it now !
It has a hinged 'drop down' floor hatch which allows you to sit on the floor, dangle your feet outside and eat at a hinged shelf / table, whilst looking out of the rear window. To prevent it from tipping back I have fitted a telescopic leg at the rear. It also has a solar powered roof vent.

Hi All,
Some time since my last post. Done quite a few miles now with no real drama except with the mudguards. I wanted them to hug the tyres so i mounted them on the suspension trailing arms, unfortunately the vibration and suspension movement causes the support brackets to fail. I have reluctantly decided to mount the guards onto the body.

Hi Frank, Brian, Sandi,
The 3 wheeler has about 70hp and weighs only 390kg, so it doesn't struggle to pull the Pod. There is however an issue with the electrics as I only have 20 amps to play with, I have considered uprating the alternator or fitting LED lights all round. My Triking has no reverse gear which isn't normally a problem, but with the Pod attached ... it is !

Regards Andy.
