You're correct if you're using solid core wiring. I thought you were using Marine grade stranded wire like I'm using.

12/2 is only allowed if it's Type TBS, SA, SIS, FEP, FEPB, MI, RHH, RHW-2, THHN, THHW, THW-2, THWN-2, USE-2, XHH, XHHW, XHHW-2, or ZW-2. 10/2 is allowed no matter what type it is. Be safe and use 10/2.

Well I did the thing I was scared of! Cut the hole for the AC Cargo hatch and installed it! Eventually I may spray it black to be more stealthy (I'd tape off the surrounding area). But that can wait.

On a side note...I seem to have misplaced the key for the lock on the hatch lol...luckily it's in the open position.

Rocky5000100, Howdy;

It's most likely a standard RV access key CH751. As you have access to the rear
of the assembly simply remove it and take it to you local locksmith and have it
re-done to a different keying. makes it more secure and have 3 or 5 keys cut
for and stash one somewhere where you can find it when you need it.

I was going to say the same thing. Awhile back, I too lost my CH751 key. Ebay sells them for $3.00, cheaper than a locksmith.

Got a lot done today!
Installed upper cabinets. They're on there solid.
Image

Also tested to see if my mattress will fit along the left side. It does .

Image

Mounted water pump, centered over a wall stud so it won't vibrate.

Image

And lastly, got the 30 amp shore plug wired up with 10-2 and installed. Question though, is that seal they provided good enough, or should I used some of that sealant I got to make it more waterproof? There is a stress relief cover over the wires not shown in this pic.

I used the same shore power connector on my rig. I used a very thin coat of sealant on both sides of the gasket they supplied just to be safe.

Rocky
Hoping to draw from your recent experiences.
What are the 'cons' of using OSB for the ceiling panels?

I'm looking to do a more industrial finish, so the OSB wouldn't bother me too much. I'm wandering if the trick of using watered down 'titebond II' as a primer (like they talk about on the 'Foamie forum), would make any sense. Mine will not be a dedicated 'camper either. I've also considered using a sandwich method on the walls, leaving the factory paneling adding 2x2" (stud extension), Insulation between, and then OSB for a liner/interior wall.

By the way I like your build. Very nice.

Are you referring to the Lauan panels on the ceiling? I can't really think of any cons. Pros are it's lightweight, but still firm enough to make hanging them easy. It's finished very nicely, and looks good even if you don't paint or stain it.

The sandwich method on the walls could work, but then you'd be losing 3.25 inches of width in the trailer.

I haven't been able to work on the trailer all week due to the crappy weather we've been having. Today is supposed to be 50 after work, so I hope to get the conduit installed on the walls so I can run the electrical. My first track day is May 9, so I hope to have electrical working by then. The electrical is pretty much the biggest hump in the project. After that it should be easier, just finishing the trim and building a fold down bed.

To Do:
Install Conduit
Install Water Pump
Wire lights
Install lights
Install Outlets
Wire outlets
Install battery
Connect electrical
Install Sink
Install Plumbing
Install Countertop
Install Upper Cabinets
Install Pit Bull Trailer Restraint and wheel chock
Build and Test fit Bed
Test fit Bench
Paint Bed
Paint Bench
Install Bed
Install Bench
Install carpeting
Cut Trim Pieces and paint
Install Trim Pieces
Build and test fit Shelf for AC
Install Wall Hooks
Clean Trailer
Fill trailer

I got the conduit up today. Originally I was going to put in circular dome lights, but as I was putting the conduit up I decided it wouldn't look good. So I decided to order some LED Strip lighting, and will run a 3-4 ft strip and the front and back of the trailer. It was pretty cheap and will actually provide more lumens. I also don't have to cut into the ceiling now. I also ran the 12-2 wire for the outlet on the right side.

Also, what 30amp breaker do I want for my PD4045? I was at Menards and it looked like there was a bunch of different sizes. The manual lists some, but I didn't have it with me when I went to the store. Will this Siemens QP 30amp single pole work?

And from what I understand, I'll need 3 15amp breakers. 1 for charging the battery, 1 for my two left-side outlets, and 1 for my right-side outlet. These should work for that, right?

According to what you've listed there, they should work fine. I would suggest a 20 amp breaker with 12 gauge wiring to the air conditioner outlet. It may not be needed, depending on the draw of the air conditioner, but I like to over-build things.

Thanks for the info. I got the breakers today and they fit up nicely. I went with 15 on the branch because my ac is only 5000btu. I think it only draws 4 amps.

Image

I then wired up the 30 amp inlet.
Image

I then tried installing this surface mount box I got on the wall but it was too shallow to fit everything. So I am going to install a deeper one tomorrow.

I did get the two boxes installed on each side of the lower cabinet, but not wired up yet.

For your safety, please correct these issues before you power up the panel.

Arrows are pointing to damaged insulation. Circle is missing stress clamp. These issues are going to get real bad when the wiring gets jostled around going down the road.
