The upper piece is made by laminating 4 pieces of .1875" thick pine strips together.

Nice. I must have missed that.

Did you laminate them over a form and then glue them in, or were you able to glue them in place?

I glue all 4 pieces in at the same time and clamp them up until they are dry.



@Glenn,

I am not used to this heat. I walk outside, and within about 30 seconds I am sweating. Within minutes I need a towel, and within a few minutes more I have to jump into the pool. I seem to pick the worst weather for building!!!

I assume the POR15 product you used was the rust preventive paint and not the bed liner?

Also, your link to por15.com (two posts back) has a semicolon at the end that causes the link to fail. Could you edit that for us, please?

Yes, it's the rust paint, not the bedliner. Thats the nicest paint I've ever used on a trailer!!!

Came home from work today determined to do some work.

So I cut the floor to length... 15° on the back 18° on the front



Then I figured I'd try the gripper on a large surface, i.e. the inside of the wall.



I think it turned out pretty good. In the past I've used 7 oz canvas, and it shows all the imperfections. The 10oz canvas I got this time does a much better job at hiding the imperfections.

I didn't size it, so it's stretching itself taught. Also, I did not put gripper on the top yet. I didn't want to pull the canvas away from the foam and cause bubbles. Once the gripper has dried I'll do all the waterproofing stuff.

Gripper is nice stuff isn't it ? You might consider putting a coat of slightly thinned TB II on top for the bump resistance it confers. TB II dries much stiffer than Gripper or any paint I have used. The more you thin the TB II, the longer the cure time; about 5-10% is all that's needed to make it flow better than out of the bottle.

Glidden Gripper primer - a very thick PVA latex primer that has excellent glue-like properties & dries more readily than other product when used to glue large styrofoam panels to each other, or foam to metal, etc.
