I managed to get the Marmoleum flooring installed, and last night finished up the door side floor cabinet. The electrical panel and the alarm system will go in the bottom, upper 2 drawers are for clothes, it still needs a top for it. I also am using some highly figured birch for the face on the galley. I shot some finish on it tonight, but still needs a couple more coats. Also got the original ice box restored which will go into the large opening on the right hand side of the galley frame.
It's 7pm and still 95F in the shop. This won't go out this year, as the cabinetry and interior is killing me on time. That's OK...I still have 2 others to use in the meantime. Thanks for watching. Doug

It looks good, like I knew it would!
But I've got to ask....Alarm system? This is the first one that you've used that in, isn't it?

I like the figured birch you're using.
Everything looks great as usual.
Does the top drop down (notch?) where the top rail is lower on the right?
What goes in that spot?

I tried to PM you a few days ago and it wouldn't work.
Jane & I were concerned for your welfare when we saw a large fire in your area on the nightly news.
You must be okay, if you're posting this.

The 1950 Port O Stove goes in the notch on the galley Danny. There was a fire fairly close, but not like last years King fire. Doug

Another great looking trailer and fine piece of art.

Love to be able to see one of them one day, when I get back on the road camping.

This weekend I managed to get back on the MobilGlide. I took 1 weekend to get ready to go camping in the Voyager, cleaned it and loaded it up, then 7 nights up at Wolf Creek with a group and had to unload on last Sunday, work a week and this weekend got back to it. I managed to get the restored vintage ice box installed in the galley frame and insulated. I have 1.5" of insulation on an original Modernaire ice box and it's a lot better than the original that was wrapped with 3/4 inch of fiberglass. It did drop the temp really well and held over night with a medium block of ice in it. I also did the final install on the lower cabinet and the upper. The laminate on the top of the cabinet is a faux marble white and gray. I'm wanting to push and get the woodwork all done before the temps drop and I can't spray finish outdoors. Thanks for reading. Doug

Doug
You have amazing woodworking skills!
Beautiful job! :applause: .........can't wait to see it in person.
Are you looking for a Vintage tow car?
The Studebaker was a little to spendy for a '48" and a 4Dr. to boot. There are better deals out there!
See you in the spring!

I got the galley mostly done, restored a Modern ice box that I scrounged from a '57 Mercury trailer that I scrapped. It now has 2" of insulation around it, much better than the crappy glass insulation it originally had. Stove is a late 40's Port-O-Stove, propane that I restored. Galley rails are aluminum strap and some spacers, all-thread and acorn nuts. Both the sink and the stove areas will get a top for a flat galley area. Color difference in the panels will be OK as it will match the rest of the skin on the interior. Still needs the details on the doors. The panel under the sink has the classic 3 vents that were so typical on an under sink panel back in the 40's, doctored it up with a couple of mahogany plugs. While the doors may not appear to match, they will match the rest of the interior just fine. Doug

Looks great Doug  , especially with the figure in the wood showing up under your finish.
I like your design, it's very inviting to the onlooker.
I'm confident this trailer will look and function considerably more than the original manufactures concept and build.

Last weekend I installed the galley, but not the final install, had to put it in to trial fit up some of the other items. Managed to get the back splash done. It's a random scuff on some .040 aluminum with 2 coats of auto clear on it. It will get cut down to fit, and won't be so overwhelming once it's all done up without a flash from a camera on it, trust me. I also managed today to get the front and rear upper cabinets installed. Doing a rail and stile type face frame on a curve mated to a bottom shelf with a similar curve turned out to be quite a challenge for this woodworker. What's not shown is the speaker grills that are going to be made out of mahogany for the 2 end panels in the front cabinet. It's nice to get a lot of the parts that have been building up in the living room finally installed. I've been working really hard on getting a lot of the wood work done so I can shoot finish on it while the weather holds. I don't have an "official" spray booth, right now, it's the EZ up in the driveway. This isn't a resto..MobilGlides were really "plain Jane". Thanks for reading. Doug

Re: '47 MobilGlide, now with galley and upper cabinets! 10/1

Doug, looks like you pulled off the radius stile/rail quite well as it looks 90 degrees to the other stile & rail.
I'd imagine finding the correct radius was the biggest challenge, challenge is good for all of us.
I like the look your creating, thanks for sharing.
